Project Manager – M&A Integration
Contract Length: Through February 2027
Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week
Location: Mettawa, IL – Hybrid
Onsite Requirement: Tuesday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM

Orion Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Integration to provide project management and tactical support for an active acquisition and integration initiative for our pharmaceutical client in Mettawa, IL.  
This individual will work closely with leaders from both the acquiring organization and the acquired company, helping to coordinate integration activities, manage cross-functional workstreams, and keep key initiatives on track against established timelines.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of project management experience, including experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or other complex cross-functional initiatives. This role requires someone who can quickly step into an established program, understand ongoing workstreams, and bring structure, organization, and accountability to the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project management activities associated with an ongoing acquisition and integration
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders across both organizations to coordinate integration activities and maintain alignment
  • Schedule, facilitate, and lead cross-functional meetings and working sessions
  • Develop meeting agendas, document decisions, track action items, and ensure timely follow-up
  • Maintain project plans, timelines, objectives, milestones, and deliverables
  • Manage and track financial forecasts associated with project activities
  • Prepare and maintain project status reports for leadership and key stakeholders
  • Organize and coordinate working groups across areas such as bioinformatics, data management, metadata management, data storage, and platform implementation
  • Develop and maintain risk registries and proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and potential roadblocks
  • Track dependencies across multiple workstreams to ensure milestones remain on schedule
  • Establish effective communication structures across working groups and provide timely updates to program leadership
  • Translate functional and technical input into clear, actionable project plans
  • Provide tactical project support to senior program and functional leadership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Previous experience supporting M&A, acquisition integration, business integration, or similarly complex cross-functional programs
  • Experience working within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, bioinformatics, data management, or data strategy environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, timelines, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and action items
  • Experience managing project budgets and/or financial forecasts
  • Strong meeting facilitation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with both senior leadership and technical teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly become productive within a project that is already underway
  • Comfortable translating technical or functional requirements into actionable project plans
  • Ability to work onsite in Mettawa, IL Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting bioinformatics, scientific data management, or data strategy initiatives
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet and Confluence
  • Experience with platform or technology integrations
  • Familiarity with Code Ocean or similar scientific computing/data platforms
  • Understanding of bioinformatics and data management terminology
  • Previous experience working within a large pharmaceutical or life sciences organization
