Project Manager

Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Project Manager IV for our Multinational Pharmaceutical client based in Boxmeer. Initial 12-month contract.

What will you do

E2E Delivery Project Manager for Concept design through Construction and C&Q for multi-disciplinary construction projects.
Project budget OOM € 20-50 M.
Typical project scope; process equipment (upstream and downstream biologics, filling and packaging), facility modifications, extensions or new build including all technical services and automation.
Leading the project in close cooperation with the site representing Capital Project Lead.

Responsibilities of the role

• Leads a portfolio of low or medium segment capital projects or a single high segment capital project and/or manage and mentor Assoc. Specialists/ Specialists/ Senior Specialists in performing various low, medium or high segment capital projects from initial evaluation, scope development, execution to completion and financial closeout within time, budget, SHE and quality constraints
• Identifies business requirements and goals and its impact to company financial objectives.
• Oversee the process for developing the right culture for team members and partners to succeed.
• Obtains input and coordinates with PDM and external FEL partners on equipment or facility design, material selection, and installation proposals that meet operating requirements to satisfy the development FEL packages and detailed design packages.
• Assist / participates in equipment reviews and installation including FAT and SAT.
• Uses knowledge and experience to select and gain acceptance of the right design & execution solutions for successful project delivery.
• Able to guide and/or execute projects that support the various lines of businesses and technologies.
• Acts as key expert resource for handling more complex project engineering issues.
• Provides input in the evaluation and selection of third-party designers and contractors
• Evaluates and selects third-party contractors using a rigorous process supported by industry benchmarks.
• Works with procurement to develop contracting strategies and KPIs.
• Ability to negotiate issues while interfacing with Legal and Procurement.

Required Qualifications and skills

• A good knowledge of project C&Q principles & documentation with the ability to set C&Q strategy requirements for project initiation to completion.
• Ability to lead and direct multiple C&Q activities with various groups in delivering C&Q requirements.
• Good knowledge with specific expertise on the Global Engineering Solutions Roadmap, procedures, standards & processes and how to tailor to meet specific project needs. Ensures that projects in their portfolio complete all required roadmap elements to required quality.
• Good working knowledge of the capital management process with ability to develop complex strategy and supporting documentation for appropriate stage gate reviews.
• Management of Lean Principles, elements of project execution plans, constructability analysis, construction requirements, risk management, change management and control and project turnover.
• Effective utilization of the change management and control process and articulate change requirements to deliver project objectives.
• Scheduling principles are understood as well as principles behind pull planning and other LEAN techniques and is able to coordinate project requirements to have others develop detailed schedules.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cost management principles including target value design methodology and able to coordinate project requirements with others to develop estimate and control project cost.
• Obtains and evaluates the input of team, business owner, and contractors to identify and resolve potential project delays, scope changes and/or scope discrepancies.
• Ensures project scope, timeline, cost parameters, and quality output standards are maintained and achieved.
• Proactively prepares and communicates project status reports for management review identifying areas of concern with proposed corrective actions.
• Ensures third-party work is monitored and controlled for scope, cost, quality and compliance.
• Actively using AAR’s (After Action Reviews) to document lessons learned.
• Understands contractor management requirements.
• Ability to assemble and manage multiple internal and/ or external resources to develop scope and execute projects.
• Able to lead Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) as and create/maintain high performing cross-functional teams.
• Able to manage a few direct reports by setting clear intent and expectations, focusing on professional development, coaching as needed.
• Ensures that subordinates monitor project progress and performance.
• Ability to coach and mentor.
