Project Manager III – Global Patient Access Programs

Location: North Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday onsite; Monday & Friday remote)
Contract: Initial 6-month contract with potential extension into 2027 based on performance and business needs
Pay Rate: $80–$85/hr based on benefit selection
 
Orion Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager III to support our global pharmaceutical client's Global Patient Access Programs (GPAP) organization.
 This role will drive the planning, coordination, governance, and execution of strategic initiatives supporting patient access programs, product launches, operational improvements, and enterprise transformation efforts.
This is a highly collaborative, execution-focused position requiring exceptional organization, strong project leadership, and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously within a fast-paced, matrixed environment. The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional business leaders, operational teams, and external vendors to ensure key priorities are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project planning, coordination, and execution for strategic Global Patient Access initiatives supporting enterprise priorities.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, risk logs, issue trackers, governance materials, and executive status reporting.
  • Coordinate multiple cross-functional workstreams to ensure strategic initiatives are translated into actionable deliverables and executed successfully.
  • Support new product launches, indication expansions, and other significant patient access initiatives by driving launch readiness activities and coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project meetings, governance reviews, and executive updates while documenting action items, risks, dependencies, and key decisions.
  • Partner with business leaders to support operational, policy, process, technology, and vendor-related program changes.
  • Conduct impact assessments, develop implementation plans, and support organizational change management activities.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, proactively resolve issues, and escalate concerns when appropriate.
  • Build strong partnerships across Patient Access, Brand, Market Access, Patient Services, Legal, Finance, BTS, Operations, and external vendor organizations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, communications, and project documentation supporting leadership decision-making.
 
Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, program management, business operations, patient services, market access, healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, execution, and follow-through skills.
  • Experience developing executive presentations, dashboards, communications, and project reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical patient support programs, patient assistance programs, copay programs, or patient services operations.
  • Experience supporting product launches, indication expansions, or enterprise business transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with change management methodologies, governance frameworks, and organizational transformation initiatives.
