Orion Group Life Sciences are looking for a Project Manager (Technical Projects & Equipment Delivery) for our Multinational Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology client based in Breda. Initial 12-month contract.
Role Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical background to lead complex equipment projects from concept through execution and handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, vendor relationships, and contract execution while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with equipment procurement, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), vendor management, and project delivery within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with equipment procurement, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), vendor management, and project delivery within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities of the role
- Lead multidisciplinary projects involving process equipment, manufacturing systems, utilities, and facility upgrades.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and handover.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and progress reports.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders, engineering teams, quality, validation, operations, and external contractors.
- Manage supplier and contractor relationships throughout project execution.
- Lead contract negotiations, contract administration and change order management.
- Ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, and business requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) at vendor facilities and project site.
- Review technical documentation including URS, equipment specifications, design packages, and validation documentation.
- Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with applicable GMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate project meetings and provide regular updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in a technical or industrial environment.
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or GMP-regulated industries.
- Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation activities (CQV).
- Knowledge of GMP regulations, GAMP, FDA, EMA, and industry best practices.
- Experience with capital projects and equipment implementation in manufacturing environments.
- Experience working in international and cross-functional project teams.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing equipment, process systems, automation and utilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing equipment suppliers and external contractors.
- Proven experience in contract management, including commercial negotiations and change management.
- Hands-on experience conducting and leading Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at equipment vendors.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and project risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to travel within Europe to equipment vendors as required.
