Orion Group is seeking a Restricted Substances Specialist for a leading pharmaceutical client to support chemical regulatory compliance initiatives within a fast-paced global environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in regulatory compliance, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, quality systems, or chemical data management who enjoy solving complex compliance challenges and driving cross-functional project execution.
Position Overview
The Restricted Substances Specialist will support the implementation and ongoing management of global restricted substances regulatory requirements impacting pharmaceutical products and components.
This role is responsible for analyzing product/component data, supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, coordinating cross-functional project activities, and ensuring accurate documentation and tracking of compliance-related information across internal systems.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze component and sub-assembly information to assess restricted substances impact and regulatory risk
- Support implementation and maintenance of restricted substances regulatory requirements including:
- EU REACH
- RoHS
- Conflict Minerals
- Proposition 65
- Other global chemical compliance frameworks
- Coordinate compliance-related projects, timelines, milestones, and deliverables
- Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and third-party manufacturers to obtain and validate compliance documentation
- Interpret regulatory requirements and help translate them into actionable internal business processes
- Organize, maintain, and track regulatory data within enterprise systems
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders
- Support process development, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance documentation efforts
- Manage multiple small-to-medium projects simultaneously while supporting broader regulatory initiatives
- Assist with risk identification, issue resolution, and escalation management when needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, or other technical discipline preferred
- Experience in one or more of the following:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities independently

- High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Experience using SAP
- Familiarity with ARENA
- Knowledge of restricted substances regulations such as REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, or Proposition 65
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing environments
- Exposure to supplier compliance documentation or product regulatory data management
- Self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision
- Strong project coordination and prioritization skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate across global teams
- Results-oriented mindset with strong follow-through
- Comfortable navigating complex regulatory and compliance-driven environments
