Project Engineer

Location: Killarney, Co. Kerry

Function: Operations
About the Role An established engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Operations team in Killarney. This role sits within a New Units / Projects environment and is responsible for managing both standard and bespoke engineering projects from order placement through to final delivery.
The successful candidate will combine strong project management capability with solid technical expertise to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with customer expectations. The role involves regular interaction with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams, making strong communication and stakeholder management skills essential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from order receipt through to customer delivery
  • Plan and implement project activities, milestones, schedules, and documentation in line with customer requirements
  • Review and interpret detailed technical specifications for packaged mechanical equipment
  • Translate customer and contract requirements to internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Review product designs for compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and contractual obligations
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of project documentation and drawing packages
  • Liaise with engineering teams on client approval drawings and production documentation
  • Support development of project budgets and cost estimates; monitor and control project costs
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and provide regular progress and milestone reports
  • Identify, manage, and coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality and delivery standards are met
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Provide regular status updates to customers, project teams, and management
  • Support additional project-related duties as required
Skills & Experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret detailed technical specifications for mechanical equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a project engineering or project management role
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects end to end
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel, pipework, and skid package design to international codes is advantageous
