Production Engineer
 
Our client, a large north sea operator is currently recruiting for the position of Production Engineer.  This is a PAYE contract based onshore in Aberdeen, and it is a core role with them so will be a long-term contract.  Hybrid working is available (3 days office based and 2 days working from home).
 
 
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 
Site Support
  • Provide direct technical support to site operations and SMART room personnel, ensuring continuous, cost-effective improvement of process equipment in support of well interventions and trials, ultimately contributing to production optimisation.
  • Analyse and resolve production and process issues using appropriate diagnostic techniques, liaising with Asset Field Operations, Performance & Growth, and SHE departments, as well as company Technical Authorities and third-party specialists where required.
 
Production Performance
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of asset production procedures.
  • Support process optimisation initiatives and contribute to opportunities within the 2-year production optimisation plan.
  • Engage effectively with Technical Authorities to ensure alignment on technical decisions.
  • Manage derogation processes efficiently where required.
  • Support the development and implementation of production management processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the highest health and safety standards, in line with company policies and procedures.
 
Production Opportunity Process
  • Contribute to the opportunity maturation process and maintain the opportunity register, including:
O Identification of opportunities and potential threats
O Ranking of opportunities using the RFM process where applicable
O Close-out of opportunities with clear demonstration of value delivered
O Capturing lessons learned and promoting knowledge sharing
  • Actively participate in identifying production optimisation opportunities, with a focus on production, process, and flow assurance.
  • Perform and/or lead studies for optimisation opportunities, managing associated process or multi-discipline modifications.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive RFM dossiers, ensuring effective handover to Asset Field Operations teams or third-party engineering contractors for detailed design and implementation.
 
Production Performance Tracking
  • Provide input to production performance tracking and demonstrate value generated from activities.
  • Monitor costs and ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets.
  • Support and coordinate activities within the Production Optimisation team, applying continuous improvement methodologies.
 
 
Digital Production Optimisation Solutions
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of digital solutions that enhance production optimisation.
 
Innovation
  • Benchmark against industry standards and remain at the forefront of innovation in production and process technologies.
  • Drive and accelerate the implementation of value-adding solutions.
 
 
 
 
Management of Third-Party Vendors
 
In coordination with Asset Project Engineers and Contract Representatives:
  • Prepare scopes of work for third-party vendors and consultancy services covering study and modification activities.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations of third-party proposals.
  • Support the preparation of SAP requisitions for procurement of materials and external services.
  • Manage interfaces between third parties and site operations teams.
  • Monitor progress of third-party studies, design, and engineering activities to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of production, safety, and integrity issues.
  • Track costs and ensure all expenditures remain within budget limits.
 
 
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within the oil and gas sector, ideally in process, production, or refining environments.
  • Strong understanding of onshore and offshore process and production systems, including flow assurance, industry standards, and relevant specifications.
