Procurement Specialist - Wells 

12-Month Contract | London (Hybrid) | Oil & Gas | Iraq Development Project 

We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist - Wells to join a major international oil & gas development project on a 12-month contract basis. Based in London with a hybrid working arrangement, this role will support a significant upstream development programme in Iraq and play a key part in the procurement and contract management of critical wells-related services and equipment. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing procurement team supporting the redevelopment of one of the world's most significant hydrocarbon regions. Working closely with project, technical, legal, finance, and operational stakeholders, you will help deliver strategic sourcing activities, maximise supplier value, and ensure compliant and effective procurement delivery across a complex international project environment.

The Role

As Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Wells procurement category, covering:

• New well delivery rigs
• Workover rigs
• Well services
• Drilling and tangibles
• Subsurface and seismic services

You will act as a key procurement business partner, supporting category strategy development, sourcing activities, supplier management, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring compliance with project governance requirements and local regulations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of procurement strategies across the Wells category.
• Execute end-to-end sourcing and contracting activities, including tendering, evaluations, negotiations, and contract award processes.
• Work closely with technical, commercial, and project stakeholders to ensure procurement activities align with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain contract and procurement plans for assigned categories.
• Support governance approvals, risk management processes, and supplier due diligence activities.
• Manage post-award contract administration, including supplier queries, change requests, renewals, extensions, and invoice support.
• Monitor and drive supplier performance through KPI tracking, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support audit, compliance, and cost recovery activities as required.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and project partners, acting as a key interface between internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Provide insights into regional market conditions and supplier capabilities to support informed procurement decisions.

About You

We're looking for a commercially driven procurement professional with strong category expertise and a proven track record within the upstream oil & gas sector. 

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualified in Procurement, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5+ years of procurement experience within the oil & gas industry.
• Strong experience supporting Wells-related procurement categories, including drilling services, rigs, well services, and associated contracts.
• Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance activities.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience negotiating complex, high-value contracts.
• Proven ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and international stakeholder groups.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within a fast-paced project environment.

Desirable

• CIPS qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Previous experience supporting projects in Iraq or the wider Middle East region.
• Knowledge of joint venture environments and production-sharing or concession-based operating models.

London-based contract with Hybrid working model. Flexible travel to Iraq may be required during key project phases.
