Essential Job Duties:
  • Ensure Process Safety and Risk Management objectives are practiced daily through participation in Management of Change, Process Hazards Analysis, Process Safety Hazard Hunter, and Pre-startup Safety Review responsibilities.
  • Monitor electrochemical units and key performance indicators (KPIs) to maximize yield, concentration, and purity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and root cause failure analysis.
  • Support the safety process systems through participation in planned inspections, job observations, near miss reporting, incident investigation, and other programs as required. Serve as an MOC Coordinator for the plant.
  • Look for opportunities to share broad expertise with the plant. Recommend methods to improve the existing plant processes.
  • Resolve daily operational deviations and complex technical challenges escalated by manufacturing and control room teams.
  • Provide technical expertise to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product quality. Identify new cost reduction ideas. Participate in the design and implementation of equipment and process improvements, material of construction improvements, and efficiency and cost control improvements.
  • Assist with the identification, development, installation, and start-up of process improvements. Engineering assignments may include energy and material balance studies, process studies, and process equipment specifications and modifications.
  • Provide assistance to operations including trouble shooting of operating problems, special tests, studies, and technical assistance as required, and assistance with production reporting and the monthly ‘accounting close’ process.
  • Provide coordination between the Production department and the Project Engineering group on capital projects.
  • Prepare AFEs for ‘plant scale’ capital projects and follow these projects to a successful completion.
  • Review key process parameters daily. Generate key process parameters report periodically on the various plant unit operations. Review the status of Critical Success Factors on a monthly basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related technical field with five (5) plus years of chemical production experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in chemical production, with direct exposure to chlor alkali or electrochemical manufacturing.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in process simulation, P&ID systems, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
