The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Piping Engineer to join a specialist engineering 
organisation delivering advanced water treatment and process systems to the offshore energy sector. This is a permanent staff position based in East Kilbride, offering a hybrid working model.
The organisation operates internationally and supports complex offshore projects 
across multiple global markets. Safety, technical excellence, and collaborative working are central to its success.

Role Overview

The Piping Engineer will be responsible for ensuring piping system designs comply with relevant industry standards and project specifications, while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of engineered systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in piping design, stress analysis, support design, and requisition engineering, ensuring technical integrity and alignment with 
broader project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Design & Compliance
• Ensure piping designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., ASME B31.3 or 
equivalent).
• Confirm designs account for loading limitations of connected equipment.
• Identify constraints and requirements imposed by piping on third-party design 
activities.
• Ensure requisitions for pipework and valves are accurate in both specification 
and quantity.

Pipework & Valve Specifications

• Review and assess client-provided pipe specifications where available.
• Develop supplementary specifications where required.
• Prepare project-specific pipe specifications when none are provided.
• Ensure specifications align with system service requirements and internal design 
standards.

Pipe Stress Analysis

• Identify critical lines requiring stress analysis.
• Define load cases, equipment loading limitations, and external load 
requirements.
• Develop and manage stress analysis models (in-house or via specialist 
consultants).
• Review results and modify designs to achieve compliance.
• Coordinate with design teams to ensure final layouts reflect analysed geometry 
and support requirements.

Pipe Support Design

• Determine position and type of supports for critical and non-critical lines.
• Define support loads for structural and attachment design.
• Design pipe support attachments to meet loading requirements.
• Liaise with third parties impacted by pipework loading considerations.

Requisition Engineering

• Prepare and manage requisitions and subcontracts for piping materials, 
services, and specialist items.
• Support procurement activities and vendor engagement as required.
• Supervise internal resources supporting requisition execution where applicable.
 Candidate Profile

Experience & Technical Capability
• Significant relevant experience in piping engineering within industrial or offshore 
environments.
• Strong understanding of piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3).
• Experience in pipe stress analysis and pipe support design.
• Prior involvement in multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Experience working with international or overseas clients is advantageous.

Professional Qualifications

• Minimum HND (or equivalent experience) in an Engineering or related technical 
discipline.
• Proficient in MS Office and general IT systems.
