Position: Petrophysics Team Lead
Location: Gum Adasi, Baku, Azerbaijan
Schedule: 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
Transportation: Provided by the company via shuttle buses (to and from the office)
Key accountabilities:
• Lead qualitative and quantitative petrophysical interpretation, delivering porosity, water saturation, lithology, permeability, and hydrocarbon volume evaluations.
• Integrate logs with core, SCAL, NMR, image logs, mineralogical data, and pressure data to generate high-fidelity reservoir characterization.
• Perform advanced rock typing and define electrofacies and reservoir flow units using core-log integration and clustering methods.
• Develop and calibrate saturation-height models for reservoir characterization and volumetric analysis.
• Determine fluid contacts (GWC/OWC), integrating log signatures, pressure gradients, capillary pressure, NMR, and core saturation data, including tilted or hydrodynamic scenarios.
• Recommend and design logging and coring programs for upcoming wells, including tool string selection and operational feasibility.
• Provide real-time petrophysical support during drilling operations (geosteering, coring points, MDT/pressure decisions, casing points).
• Ensure rigorous QA/QC of acquired logs and evaluate log data quality for all operated wells.
• Lead petrophysical interpretation for exploration and appraisal wells and ensure data acquisition aligns with subsurface objectives.
• Provide petrophysical input into volumetric assessments, static/dynamic reservoir models, uncertainty evaluations, and sensitivities.
• Support prospect evaluation and ranking through petrophysical risk assessments, including Monte-Carlo based input parameters.
• Work closely with geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, production, and SCAL/core-analysis teams to ensure full multidisciplinary alignment.
• Contribute to field development planning by integrating petrophysical deliverables with QI/AVO, seismic attributes, rock physics, and reservoir engineering studies.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise junior petrophysicists, develop structured training and best-practice workflows.
• Establish and enforce petrophysical standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks.
• Represent the petrophysics discipline in technical reviews, peer assists, workshops, and partner/authority meetings.
• Manage contractor performance and interfaces with logging service companies.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience in petrophysical interpretation (E&P operators or consultancy).
• Strong background in offshore exploration and appraisal projects; deep-water experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
• High proficiency with industry-standard petrophysical software (Techlog, Geolog, Interactive Petrophysics or equivalent).
• Strong capability in log analysis.
• Solid understanding of rock physics.
• Experience with core–log integration.
• Knowledge of SCAL and capillary pressure data.
• Experience with advanced interpretation workflows (NMR, image logs, mineralogy, thin-bed correction, complex lithologies).
• High proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with proven mentoring experience.
