Recruiting on behalf of our client
We are seeking an experienced Operational Safety Leader (OSL) to join a major fast-track deepwater development in Suriname. The successful candidate will play a key role within the Drilling & Wells Performance & Methods team, supporting HSSE leadership, operational risk management and safety performance across onshore bases and two offshore rigs.
This is an exciting opportunity within a new upstream Oil & Gas province, supporting a 32-well deepwater campaign scheduled to start Q4 2026, with First Oil targeted for Q4 2027.

Key Responsibilities HSE Leadership & Compliance
  • Drive a strong HSE culture and uphold high HSEQ standards across all operational activities.
  • Ensure full implementation of OneMaestro Principles, 12 Golden Rules, Code of Conduct, company referential, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee HSSE performance at onshore contractor bases, offshore rigs, and interfaces with external stakeholders.
Operational Safety & Support
  • Act as HSSE focal point for all Drilling & Wells (D&W) activities.
  • Support RSES and rig supervisory teams on MEDEVAC/MEDERESCUE, Blow Out Contingency Plan (BOCP), OSCP, and associated drills.
  • Lead development and management of SIMOPS dossiers and bridging documents in collaboration with D&W and Field Operations teams.
  • Follow up on HSSE training compliance via LIZZY and SafePass (staff and contractors).
Monitoring, Compliance & Improvement
  • Prepare and track HSSE annual KPIs (near misses, TRIR, LTIF, FAC, audits, perfect days, etc.).
  • Monitor HSE performance of two offshore rigs and issue monthly HSE reports and dashboards.
  • Manage HSSE derogations, incident reporting, and case management in Polarion, Synergi, or IQ-ALL.
  • Lead risk assessments for well operations, support root cause analyses (CTA), and follow up on findings.
Audits, Reporting & Governance
  • Execute annual HSEQ-MS audits for rig and service contractors.
  • Support SQM meetings, HSSE reviews, and contribute to well program development.
  • Distribute safety alerts, bulletins, and develop HSSE REX documentation.
  • Ensure robust coordination between company and contractors, including site committee meetings and operational visits.
Logistics & Marine Safety
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure marine and lifting operations are safely planned and executed.
Digital Applications
  • Use MS Office, Power BI, Polarion, Synergi, and other digital tools for reporting and HSSE tracking.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 15+ years experience in upstream Oil & Gas.
  • 6–10 years experience in a similar HSSE leadership role in Drilling & Wells.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus HSSE certification.
  • Strong experience in offshore drilling environments.
  • Fluent in English (French or other languages an advantage).
  • Valid Offshore Medical, BOSIET CA-EBS + HUET.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments; exposure to new-country setups is an advantage.
