THE OPPORTUNITY – ONSHORE PLANNER
 
The Onshore Planner is responsible for implementing and continuously improving the asset planning process, ensures consistency, rigor, and alignment with industry best practice to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The role plays a key part in enabling delivery of operational and maintenance activities across the asset, with specific responsibility for planning support to Barrow Terminal operations.
 
The position provides day-to-day support to Operations, guiding prioritisation and decision-making in collaboration with the Onshore Operations Manager and wider operational teams. The role ensures that work is effectively prioritised, planned, and aligned with operational objectives, balancing safety, integrity, and production requirements following the Spirit Energy Planning Standards and Procedures.
 
The Onshore Planner is accountable for compiling and facilitating short and medium term plans, including the 28-day and 3-month (3M) plans, ensuring strong stakeholder engagement and readiness for execution. As a key participant in the 8-quarter (8Q) planning process, the role supports long-term planning alignment and visibility of future activities. The role will also be responsible to provide offshore planning cover for short durations only.
 
Through structured planning, coordination, and continuous improvement, the Onshore Planner ensures that work is well-prepared, prioritised, and executable, enabling safe and efficient delivery of asset plans.

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.  
 
 
AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
In role, you will be required to:
 
Planning Process Excellence
  • Implement and continuously improve the asset planning process.
  • Ensure consistency, rigor, and alignment with industry best practice.
  • Drive planning discipline and standardisation.
 
Short- & Medium-Term Planning
  • Compile and facilitate 28-day and 3-month (3M) plans.
  • Ensure plans are robust, prioritised, and executable.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and readiness for delivery within planning windows.
 
Operations Support & Prioritisation
  • Provide daily planning support to Operations.
  • Guide prioritisation in alignment with safety, integrity, and production objectives.
  • Support the Onshore Operations Manager and operational teams
 
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Engage with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support teams.
  • Ensure alignment of inputs into plans.
  • Facilitate clear communication of priorities, risks, and constraints.
 
Execution Readiness & Assurance
  • Ensure work scopes are sufficiently defined and prepared for execution.
  • Identify and resolve constraints ahead of execution.
  • Support smooth transition from planning to delivery.
 
Long-Term Planning (8Q Process)
Contribute to the 8-quarter (8Q) planning process. Support alignment of long-term activities with asset strategy. Provide visibility of future workload and resource requirements.
 
Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor planning performance (e.g. plan compliance, schedule adherence).
  • Identify improvement opportunities in planning processes.
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness across planning activities.
  • Track and monitor Planning KPI’s to drive medium-long term improvements.
 
Cross-Functional Integration
  • Align planning activities across onshore and wider asset operations.
  • Ensure integration of operational, maintenance, and project priorities.
  • Support delivery of safe and efficient operations.
 
Any other associated duties as reasonably required
 
 
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
 
  • Qualifications / experience in Project Management and Project Controls
  • Significant experience and knowledge of Primavera P6, and SAP
  • Significant knowledge and experience of integrated planning in an Operations environment
  • Understanding of Project Controls, across Planning, Cost, Risk, MoC, etc.
  • Analytical and systematic approach with an eye for detail
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy
  • Primavera P6, and SAP
  • Desirable, technical background qualification
