About the Project
Mozambique LNG is a landmark $18 billion project and one of the largest energy developments in Africa. Led by TotalEnergies, the project’s onshore facilities include two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 13 mtpa, condensate storage, marine facilities, utilities, and extensive early site infrastructure such as a resettlement village, airport, security works, permanent camps, and roads.
The onshore EPC contracts are valued at approximately $9 billion, with construction activities representing around $4 billion.
Position Overview
As Onshore Assurance Engineer, you will play a key role in monitoring and overseeing EPC contractor performance in quality assurance and control, ensuring that all quality processes and standards are properly implemented across the project. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with the project’s Quality Management System (QMS) and supporting the continuous improvement of quality performance across all phases of work.
This position is based in Milan, supporting the Assurance and Integration team.

The role focuses on ensuring compliance with the project’s Quality Management System (QMS) and supporting the continuous improvement of quality performance across all phases of work.
This position is based in Milan, supporting the Assurance and Integration team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Manager in all project quality activities, reporting, and dashboard preparation.
- Monitor procurement processes and ensure quality requirements are effectively applied to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Verify and ensure that Contractor and Subcontractor Quality Control systems at site are robust and compliant.
- Review and comment on Contractor and Subcontractor quality documentation, including Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and construction procedures.
- Ensure timely review and approval of key quality documents and procedures.
- Attend and contribute to quality management and vendor audit meetings.
- Follow up on the implementation of audit outcomes and corrective actions.
- Monitor material preservation and storage conditions at vendors’ facilities to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Identify and track nonconformities, deviations, and corrective actions until resolution.
- Liaise daily with inspectors to review quality issues and progress on inspections.
- Ensure all punch list items are closed prior to equipment release.
- Participate in investigations of quality-related issues and propose corrective measures.
- Project executed by a multinational joint venture with high social and environmental standards.
- Financed by international lenders, requiring rigorous compliance and reporting.
- Role based in Milan with coordination across global project locations.
- Future site operations located in a remote area of Northern Mozambique, subject to health and security risk management protocols.
- Ensure quality assurance processes are consistently applied throughout engineering, procurement, and site execution.
- Promote coordination with other project departments to deliver a safe, high-quality facility on time.
- Contribute to maintaining strong oversight of contractor performance and continuous quality improvement.
- Degree in Engineering or another relevant discipline (advanced degree or professional qualification preferred).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience, including 5–10 years in Quality Management.
- At least 10 years’ experience on large greenfield projects such as LNG liquefaction, GTL, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing plants.
- Strong understanding of EPC project execution and quality assurance methodologies.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Portuguese or French) are a plus.
