Job Title: Offshore Medic (28/28 rotation)
Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Reporting To: Medical Services Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable Offshore Medic to deliver frontline pre-hospital emergency care and primary medical services to personnel working across offshore and onshore operational sites. This role also supports occupational health and wellness programmes to ensure safe, healthy, and hygienic working environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide emergency medical response, immediate treatment, stabilization, and medical evacuation for personnel across offshore platforms, rigs, vessels, and onshore locations.
• Deliver primary healthcare services—including assessment, diagnosis, basic investigations, and treatment—in coordination with an onshore clinic physician.
• Support the administration of occupational health services, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and fitness-for-work evaluations.
• Assist in the delivery of wellness programmes, including health education, vaccination campaigns, counseling, and risk-factor management.
• Perform phlebotomy, collect medical and environmental samples, and safely package specimens for analysis.
• Conduct medical inductions for new personnel, and deliver First Aid, CPR/AED, and Bloodborne Pathogen training. Perform Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) fitness testing.
• Carry out food safety, hygiene, and facility inspections on offshore installations and vessels, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Maintain accurate inventories of medical equipment, medicines, and supplies, ensuring equipment remains fully serviceable.
• Monitor and follow up on employee sickness cases, liaising with external healthcare providers and facilitating safe return-to-work processes.
• Maintain detailed medical activity records and produce utilization reports.
• Manage Personnel-on-Board (POB) data, muster lists, and accommodation allocations.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS)
• Valid certifications in:
o Basic Life Support (BLS)
o Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
o Trauma Life Support (ATLS / ITLS / PHTLS)
Experience:
• Prior experience in a similar role within the oil and gas sector, on offshore platforms, rigs, or barges
• Proven experience managing medical conditions, emergencies, and medical evacuations
• Experience working effectively within multicultural teams
Skills & Competencies
• Strong ability to independently manage emergencies in remote environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Competence in dealing with a diverse workforce
• Strong command of written and spoken English
• Physically fit for offshore duties and hot climates
• Ability to work autonomously and maintain high professional standards
Licensing Requirements
Successful candidates must obtain either of the following within 6 months of appointment:
• Dubai Health Authority (DHA) registration as a General Practitioner, or
• Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) registration as an Emergency Medical Technician
Additional Requirements
• Must pass all required offshore medical fitness examinations and survival training.
