An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Offshore Field Engineer to join a major offshore decommissioning project in the Gulf of Mexico. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the forefront of offshore operations, providing technical support during critical execution activities while acting as the key link between onshore engineering teams and offshore personnel.
You will play a vital role in ensuring offshore work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering documentation, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Offshore Field Engineer to join a major offshore decommissioning project in the Gulf of Mexico. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the forefront of offshore operations, providing technical support during critical execution activities while acting as the key link between onshore engineering teams and offshore personnel.
You will play a vital role in ensuring offshore work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering documentation, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time engineering support to offshore supervisors, vessel crews, construction teams, and subsea contractors.
- Interpret engineering drawings, work packs, lifting plans, cutting plans, and offshore procedures to ensure successful execution.
- Verify offshore equipment, rigging, tools, consumables, and materials are fit for purpose and ready for deployment.
- Support offshore activities including heavy lifts, subsea retrievals, pipeline and umbilical operations, mechanical disconnections, and deck operations.
- Monitor offshore execution to ensure work is completed safely, in the correct sequence, and in line with engineering requirements.
- Validate work packs, permits, checklists, and readiness documentation before execution.
- Capture field observations, deviations, redlines, and engineering queries to support continuous improvement and change management.
- Produce daily offshore progress reports, documenting weather impacts, resource utilisation, delays, and technical issues.
- Act as the technical liaison between offshore operations and onshore engineering, marine coordination, project management, and subcontractors.
- Promote the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and quality throughout offshore operations.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine, Subsea Engineering, or a related discipline, or significant equivalent offshore technical experience.
- Proven offshore engineering or construction experience within decommissioning, subsea, marine, or heavy-lift projects.
- Strong knowledge of offshore work packs, lifting operations, vessel activities, subsea recovery, and pipeline or umbilical operations.
- Experience working within complex offshore execution environments and coordinating multiple disciplines.
- Familiarity with SIMOPS, offshore safety systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to solve problems and make sound technical decisions in dynamic offshore environments.
