Orion Group is seeking an MRO Coordinator/Inventory Specialist to support purchasing and inventory operations for our global pharmaceutical client at their North Chicago, IL campus.
This position supports Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) activities by managing requisitions, tracking service orders, resolving invoices, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The role serves as a liaison between internal customers, vendors, and procurement teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and operational efficiency.
This is a highly detail-oriented, data-driven role working onsite within a small team environment.

The role serves as a liaison between internal customers, vendors, and procurement teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Process requisitions and support the creation and fulfillment of purchase orders within MRO systems
• Review and enter Maintenance Stock Standardization Recommendations (MSSR) requests
• Monitor and expedite orders, ensuring proper follow-up and close-out of open orders
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and payable inquiries with vendors and internal teams
• Support inventory management activities and address discrepancies in MRO inventory
• Generate reports and analyze data related to materials, vendors, and planning factors
• Collaborate with internal customers, purchasing teams, and vendors to meet operational needs
• Identify process improvements to enhance service efficiency and customer satisfaction
• Maintain compliance with corporate policies, safety procedures, and audit documentation requirements
• Cross-train with other MRO team members to ensure operational continuity
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in inventory, MRO operations, warehouse coordination, or data entry
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Experience tracking orders and following up on open requests
• Familiarity with machine parts, maintenance materials, or industrial inventory
• Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with SAP, Maximo, or Smartsheet
• Experience resolving invoice discrepancies or vendor issues
• Basic Microsoft Office / Excel skills
• Experience supporting inventory control or procurement processes
- 100% onsite role in Lake County, IL
• Office / cubicle setting with a 6-person team
• Occasional overtime available as needed
