Travel Required: Driver’s license and clearance needed for role. Will be required to regularly drive company vehicle 15 to 20 minutes to alternate sites to collect environmental and utility samples for microbial testing.

Job Summary:


Collects environmental and utility samples for microbiological and chemical testing. Performs microbiological testing on water and swabs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, lifting materials weighing up to 25 pounds, vision to monitor and moderate to loud noise levels. Work is performed in manufacturing and laboratory environments.

Microbiologist Daily Responsibilities:

  • Conduct microbiological assays including microbial identification, contamination testing, and environmental monitoring using aseptic techniques.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and microbial testing.
  • Implements, maintains, and makes changes to create global solutions for a safe work environment and good manufacturing practices in accordance with procedural requirements.
  • Maintains training certifications as needed for assigned job tasks and takes responsibility to add new training diversification to meet broader team objectives.
  • Performs analytical or microbial test methods and changes as written to support product and material release with minimal error.
  • Accepts responsibility for all data generated to support material release and to complete assigned tasks as committed.
  • Independently troubleshoots and resolves analytical techniques and instrument issues.
  • Interprets experimental data for conformance with product/material specifications.
  • Understands and identifies laboratory techniques or instrumental performance in accordance with scientific principles.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology; Associate’s Degree with at least 2 years of lab experience; High School Diploma with at least 5 years of directly related laboratory experience.
  • Experienced with environmental monitoring is a must have skill.
  • Ability to work with general supervision but effectively manages their own time to multi-task based upon their completed training matrix.
  • Participates and contributes to assigned teams to meet broader business objectives.
