Mechanical Supervisor – Onshore Operations
Location: Onshore Operations Sites (Rotation)
Reporting to: Maintenance Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor, must be Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) certified, to join a high-performing Onshore Operations team with a major oil and gas client. This role is responsible for leading maintenance activities, ensuring asset reliability, and driving safe and efficient execution of mechanical work across multiple operational areas.
The Role
As Mechanical Supervisor, you will plan, coordinate, and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of mechanical equipment. You will lead a team of technicians and contractors, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with operational priorities.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving capability, and a commitment to high safety standards.

You will lead a team of technicians and contractors, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities across all onshore assets
- Supervise maintenance work on rotating equipment, valves, compressors, pumps, and lifting equipment
- Plan and coordinate daily activities for technicians and contractors
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, industry best practices, and HSE requirements
- Monitor work quality, ensure completion to schedule, and maintain accurate reporting
- Support troubleshooting and develop effective maintenance solutions
- Prioritise both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate mechanical work scopes
- Identify opportunities to improve asset performance and maintenance efficiency
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance overall capability
- Support spare parts planning and inventory management
- Act as deputy for the Maintenance Superintendent when required
- Participate in emergency response activities as needed
- Conduct regular site visits across operational assets
- Direct reports: ~8 technicians
- Contractors: 4+ (project dependent)
- Mechanical trade qualification (3-year diploma or apprenticeship)
- LOLER/LOLER-equivalent certification for lifting operations
- Prior mechanical experience in the oil & gas industry
- Previous work in a leadership role
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Gas turbines
- Centrifugal & reciprocating compressors
- Pumps and mechanical seals (including dry gas seals)
- Valve maintenance, including Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs)
- Lifting equipment and rigging
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making skills
- Solid understanding of maintenance systems and planning tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Sound judgement with a focus on safety and risk management
- Valid driving licence
- Willing to work across multiple onshore sites
