SUMMARY:
The basic function of this role is the responsibility for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as: centrifugal & reciprocating compressors, process pumps, gear drives, fans, vessels, and heat exchangers, all involving a variety of fluids and gasses in the Up-river maintenance area.
Applicants must have a background in rotating machinery and plant maintenance. through various pipelines and truck loading stations.
A background in maintaining pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, filters, strainers, exchangers, piping, relief valves, gear drives, and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is essential for this position. willing to take 24 hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
The Maintenance Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining / troubleshooting all equipment and facility maintenance. You will provide necessary technical and hands on support to continuously improve plant rotating and stationary equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream performance.
Perform and/or supervise routine and breakdown inspection, repair, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, cryogenic pumps, gear drives, steam turbines, vessels, heat exchangers, centrifugal expanders.
REQUIREMENTS:
The Machinery Technician position requires an individual with excellent broad based technical skills and good business sense. The Technician must be able to demonstrate the necessary mechanical & troubleshooting skills to resolve a broad range of problems with minimum input from engineering. At the same time, he/she needs to be able to quickly identify problems that represent a design shortfall or improvement opportunity, and in these situations gets engineering involved early in the process. The Technician must demonstrate the communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal successfully with these requirements, i.e. effective written and oral communication with engineering, operations, maintenance, suppliers, etc. Credibility and respect across the organization is important.
A minimum of 10+ years in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment with Maintenance, Reliability and / or Manufacturing roles is desired. Prior OEM experience is a plus.
High school diploma with preferred relative technical school or college degree. Relative experience will be given strong consideration in lieu of formal education.
