We are currently hiring for a Mechanical Maintenance Manager (Land Deep Drilling).  This position based in Kuwait onshore site-based drilling rigs.
Reports to: VP Operations
 
PURPOSE
The Mechanical Maintenance Manager (For Land Drilling Rigs, Associated Equipment’s and Workshop) is responsible and In-Charge for Maintenance department to lead, manage, and optimize all mechanical maintenance activities for all land drilling rigs and associated equipment’s, organize the workshop /Mechanical Yard, manage PMS System, drilling rig travelling and handling equipment, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) standards, international codes, and company HSE policies. The role is responsible for developing and implementing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime, extend asset life, and support safe, continuous drilling operations. The Mechanical Maintenance Manager provides technical leadership, manages maintenance personnel and contractors, oversees maintenance planning and execution, controls maintenance budgets, and drives continuous improvement through reliability engineering, root cause analysis, and best maintenance practices. This position also ensures that all travelling and handling equipment is maintained, inspected, and certified in accordance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of drilling operations.
 
ESSENTIAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Lead daily, weekly, and monthly mechanical maintenance planning and execution for travelling and handling equipment on drilling rigs.
Supervise inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of critical rig equipment including draw works, travelling blocks, top drives, cranes, winches, and pipe handling systems.
Review and approve maintenance work orders, job plans, and technical procedures before execution.
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure equipment condition, workmanship quality, and compliance with maintenance standards.
Monitor equipment performance and analyze breakdowns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate shutdowns, major repairs, and rig-up/rig-down maintenance activities with operations and planning teams.
Ensure all lifting and handling equipment is inspected, tested, and certified as per OEM, API, and regulatory requirements.
Enforce strict adherence to HSE procedures including Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, risk assessments, and lifting safety standards.
Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
Manage availability of spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance resources.
Ensure accurate recording of maintenance activities, equipment history, and downtime data in CMMS systems.
Liaise with vendors and service providers for specialized repairs, inspections, and technical support.
Conduct performance reviews of equipment reliability and implement improvement initiatives to reduce failures.
Always Ensure compliance with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) maintenance and safety standards.
Participate in audits, inspections, and client meetings related to equipment integrity and maintenance performance.
Drive continuous improvement programs focused on reliability, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
 
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE)
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
Additional certifications in maintenance/reliability or MBA is an advantage
 
Skills
Strong knowledge of Deep drilling, rig travelling & handling equipment maintenance
Expertise in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
Familiar with API/ASME/ISO standards and OEM guidelines
Experience with CMMS systems (SAP/Maximo)
Leadership, planning, and contractor management skills
Strong HSE awareness (PTW, LOTO, risk assessment)
 
Experience
Minimum 20+ years in Oil & Gas industry specially in drilling maintenance
15+ years in a Managerial position on land deep drilling rig maintenance.
Experience with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) or International Drilling Companies preferred
Proven experience in rig equipment reliability and shutdown maintenance
