Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Work Schedule: 28/28 Rotation

Job Purpose

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical oversight and support for preventative and corrective maintenance activities at a central production facility, ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of both rotating and static equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input and oversight for preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the facility
  • Monitor and coordinate contractor activities related to the maintenance of rotating and static equipment
  • Identify reliability and availability issues, developing and implementing improvement plans
  • Review vibration monitoring data and maintenance management system outputs, recommending corrective actions and long-term solutions
  • Support shutdown and major maintenance planning and execution activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of preventative maintenance strategies for a wide range of mechanical equipment, including compressors, turbines, and pumps
  • Ensure effective spare parts planning and availability to support maintenance activities
  • Provide technical input across all project phases, including design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, inspection, testing, installation, commissioning, and start-up
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and team members
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience within large-scale petrochemical, oil, or gas production facilities
  • Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance for industrial mechanical and rotating equipment
  • Proven ability to interpret data from precision measuring instruments and perform precision alignment across a range of equipment
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, including MFDs, PFDs, P&IDs, and other complex schematics
  • In-depth understanding of plant maintenance procedures and equipment diagnostics
  • Desirable: Experience with a range of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques
  • Desirable: Experience supporting commissioning and pre-commissioning activities
  • Extensive experience with Static Equipment is desirable
  • Past/current experience in a ‘hands on’ role, rather than experience as a ‘desk based’ engineer
