Mechanical Engineering & Design Manager
Location: Burlington, Ontario (Hybrid available)
Orion Partner Plus is partnering with a leading manufacturer of engineered equipment for industrial water applications to identify a Mechanical Engineering & Design Manager. This is a senior technical leadership role within a growing team focused on project delivery, equipment design, and process improvement — all in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
The Opportunity
As Mechanical Engineering & Design Manager, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers responsible for delivering accurate, high-quality equipment and system designs across a range of industrial water projects.
You’ll serve as both a people leader and subject matter expert — mentoring staff, reviewing technical deliverables, and acting as Engineer of Record. You’ll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation, ensure compliance with design standards, and deliver best-in-class engineering solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities:Lead and mentor a mechanical design and project engineering team.
- Drive technical execution across equipment/system design, drawing production, and specification development.
- Manage resource planning and project engineering priorities in alignment with business goals.
- Serve as technical authority on equipment design, engineering standards, and fabrication requirements.
- Perform and oversee the development of P&IDs, BOMs, datasheets, drawings, and calculations.
- Review and approve engineered deliverables as Engineer of Record.
- Champion engineering standards, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
- Support Sales with technical input on bids, proposals, and labour estimates.
- Collaborate with field personnel and clients to address project issues and technical challenges.
- Travel occasionally to fabrication and customer sites (up to 10%).
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including team leadership.
- Proven background in industrial equipment or water systems (preferred).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, AWWA, API).
- Hands-on expertise with CAD software — AutoCAD and SolidWorks required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Strong communicator and mentor with a continuous improvement mindset.
