Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Mechanical Engineer, based in Aberdeen

Responsibilities will include:
Define and apply the most appropriate national and international codes and standards and to the understanding and application of corporate guidelines, procedures, specifications and standards
Provide in-house technical expert advice with regard to technical assessments, third party designs and project scopes relating to new builds or modifications to existing equipment
Provide technical support to other disciplines, notably materials engineering (including metallurgy and corrosion), pipelines and structures
Ensure Company engineering technical standards, guidelines and specifications are complied with and maintained and address queries relating to interpretation of codes, standards and procedures
Ensure SCE performance standards are in place and define technical content of PSs
Attending, agreeing and endorsing safety critical element issues and interrelated risk assessments
Ensure integrity risks are managed appropriately and with technical support to the development and implementation of SCERAs and resolution of issues arising thus
Review non-conformances and engineering and technical queries and advise appropriate course of action in compliance with Company, national and international codes and standards and regulatory / statutory instruments.
Where necessary, apply technical expertise based on sound engineering technical assessment and experienced judgement to allow deviations against required codes and standards or relevant PSs
Participate in IMPACT investigations and TapRoot FMEA assessments with reference to specialist technical knowledge of subject matter. Advise, communicate and implement "lessons learned" to avoid repetition of previous technical errors or mistakes and encourage incorporation into Company standards and procedures where appropriate
Technically review submitted structural and piping/vessel welding procedures and welders qualifications (3rd party or fabricator) for ASME/AWS and BS/EN/ISO compliance
Co-ordinate with Company QA/QC to ensure appropriate inspection level is applied to design and fabrication of new-builds or modifications to existing plant and equipment
Review significant and non-routine anomalies from all AI and operational integrity disciplines
Ensure the nature and impact of anomalies is fully considered within the wider context
Own procedures/specifications associated with mechanical engineering (pressure systems static equipment and integrity) and ensure compliance and adherence to them by other operating units
Drive consistency of approach on mechanical engineering and integrity issues across all business and operating units
Support plant aging issues / operating life extensions and develop technical assurance to the life extension process
Provide technical oversight and approve the generation of TQs for remedial actions where required
Audit of technical competence and application of strategies and procedures for FFS assessments

Experience
Overall understanding of entire chain integration including design, procurement, construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair etc.
Management of change experience.
Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment, e.g. PSSR, PED, PSR, Safety Case, etc.
Fully conversant with national and international mechanical engineering standards and codes
Competent to select and employ technical risk assessment and problem solving techniques appropriate to circumstances prevalent at the time of asking
Significant experience in mechanical engineering and in particular static equipment design and assessment, integrity and materials
Possess thorough knowledge of asset safety cases, verification schemes and other regulatory documents
Possess experience of materials QA/QC, welding procedures and NDT procedures
Experience with piping engineering including pipe supports, pipe stress analysis
Knowledge of bolting and flange management

Qualifications
Educated to degree level and have appropriate experience in pressure systems technical design and assessments, welding and QA/QC
