Mechanical Engineer, Auxiliary Systems

To provide Mechanical Engineering support to the Auxiliary Systems Team engaged in the functional design of Auxiliary Systems on the River Class Destroyer Program for the Royal Canadian Navy.This includes design of piped fluid systems, including pump and valve selection, preparation of piping schematics,engineering  change requests and other design definition documents and calculations.
 
The role holder will be required to work under supervision performing the following duties:
·         Preparing specifications, develop Stage 1 Auxiliary System design solutions in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.
·         Support and participate within the Zonal Integration process ensuring 3D model design reflects design intent and achieves compliance to relevant quality, standards and requirements.
·         Participating in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
·         Carrying out specialist basic level technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
·         Supporting Senior engineers with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
·         Batchelor’s degree with honours or Masters degree (or other qualification plus appropriate further learning to honours degree level) in engineering, technology or science
·         Early Career Associate / Associate/Member membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institute, ideally IMarEST, IMechE, IET or CIBSE.
·         Professional registration level: Working towards IEng
