Mechanical & Welding NDT Inspector
Reports to: Yard QC Superintendent
Location: Fabrication Yard / Offshore Site
About the Project
This position supports a major offshore gas development involving two new gas fields, associated drilling platforms, subsea and topside transmission infrastructure to an existing treatment complex, and the development of a new carbon‑capture facility. The project targets an output of up to 750 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, reinforcing regional energy security and enabling significant export capacity. It includes full project management services from planning and design reviews to procurement, QA/QC, schedule control, and risk management.
Role Overview
The Mechanical & Welding NDT Inspector ensures that all mechanical systems and welded joints meet the required codes, standards, and project specifications. The role covers mechanical inspection, welding surveillance, and execution/supervision of NDT during fabrication, erection, and installation of piping systems, pressure vessels, structures, and equipment.

Role Overview
The Mechanical & Welding NDT Inspector ensures that all mechanical systems and welded joints meet the required codes, standards, and project specifications. The role covers mechanical inspection, welding surveillance, and execution/supervision of NDT during fabrication, erection, and installation of piping systems, pressure vessels, structures, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities Welding Inspection
- Inspect all welding activities to confirm compliance with WPS, PQRs, and welder qualifications (WQTs).
- Verify correct materials, joint fit‑up, consumables, and environmental conditions.
- Check weld sizes, profiles, and cleanliness before testing or coating.
- Inspect piping systems, supports, mechanical equipment (static & rotating), flanges, and structural components.
- Verify installations against isometrics, datasheets, and approved mechanical specifications.
- Ensure correct torqueing, alignment, pressure ratings, and equipment orientation.
- Execute or supervise NDT methods:
- VT, RT, UT, MT, PT
- Interpret NDT results and coordinate with Level III for acceptance criteria.
- Ensure compliance with NDT procedures and calibration requirements.
- Prepare inspection reports, weld maps, NDT logs, and punch lists.
- Issue and track NCRs and corrective actions.
- Support preparation of final QC documentation (as‑built dossiers/MDRs).
- Ensure adherence to:
- ASME B31.3, Section VIII
- AWS D1.1/D1.6
- API 650/620/1104
- ISO 9712 (or equivalent)
- Support internal and third‑party audits, FATs, and client inspections.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW.
- Skilled in reading drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and welding symbols.
- Competent with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, pit gauges).
- Strong reporting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in yard and field environments.
