We currently have an opportunity for a Material Engineer /Coordinator role. This position is based in Sohar, Oman.
 
Position Title: Material Engineer /Coordinator
Contract Duration: 12 months (Extendable based on Business requirement)
Work Location: Sohar - Oman
Working Schedule: 5 days per week 9 hours per day (Including 1-hour lunch)
 
Minimum requirements
Minimum 10-year experience as Turnaround Material Coordinator / Engineer in petrochemical, oil & gas or industrial shutdown projects.
Proficiency in MS Office, SAP MM/PM module.
Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in Engineering or a relevant technical field.
 
Duties & responsibilities
Responsible for overall control of Turnaround-related materials preparation, segregation, and issuance.
Consolidate material take-off details from individual TA planners and track PR/PO details of each line item.
Carry out physical checks for inventory stock materials and optimize the usage.
Create TA Material Purchase requisitions and carry out technical evaluations.
Track Turnaround material orders from suppliers/vendors to ensure timely delivery.
Carry out SAP material reservation against the respective work order.
Assist in coordinating the turnaround materials reservation list for segregation, consolidation, tagging, and bagging.
Segregate, label, consolidate, bag and tag turnaround materials in accordance with Materials Control Sheets or SAP reports.
Control and issue materials and consumables to work executors in accordance with approved materials handling procedures.
Update and monitor the progress/status of turnaround materials. Highlight issues, concerns & submit periodic material status reports to Turnaround team.
Participate in meetings to communicate the status and availability of Turnaround related materials.
Liaise with Turnaround Team to resolve issues or concerns related to turnaround materials.
Ensure full compliance with materials documentation requirements prior to issuance.
Coordinate the inspection of delivered materials to verify compliance with specifications and identify any shortages or damages.
Ensure that all excess or returned materials are supported by complete and accurate documentation prior to returning to warehouse
Track BOM's upon receipt and assign SAP Material Master numbers to BOM components
Participate in weekly meetings/discussions with procurement, planning, engineering, & inspection
Coordinate deliveries with warehouse and suppliers to ensure adequate support is available for larger items.
 During execution, touch base with suppliers daily regarding status of items and ETA's
Obtain quotes for BOM's when needed
Follow up on work-list BOM status - Communicate with planners and procurement to ensure all materials are being captured.
Update materials reports daily during execution
Receive, Inventory, and distribute materials by WO / Job number
Validate BOM completeness
Ensure material specs match plant standards
Verify long-lead items
Confirm MTO accuracy
Material reconciliation &  Return to warehouse
Update database for next TA
