We are seeking an experienced Material & Corrosion Prevention Engineer to support a major offshore oil & gas development project. The role provides specialist technical expertise in material selection, corrosion mitigation, and integrity engineering across the full project lifecycle — from design through construction and into operations.
This position is essential to maintaining asset integrity, safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term cost efficiency.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Material & Corrosion Prevention Engineer to support a major offshore oil & gas development project. The role provides specialist technical expertise in material selection, corrosion mitigation, and integrity engineering across the full project lifecycle — from design through construction and into operations.
This position is essential to maintaining asset integrity, safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering Phase
- Review and validate selection of appropriate materials (metals, coatings, composites) based on process conditions and corrosion risks.
- Review and approve Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) and Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs).
- Support development and review of Material Requisitions, Material Take-Offs (MTOs), and technical bid evaluations.
- Define corrosion mitigation strategies, including cathodic protection, chemical inhibition, and coating/lining solutions.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, ISO, API, and project-specific standards.
- Review and approve vendor documents, material certificates (MTCs), and WPS/PQR welding procedures.
- Oversee coating and insulation application, and verify corrosion monitoring systems.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
- Analyse corrosion monitoring data from coupons, probes, and intelligent pigging tools.
- Recommend corrective actions to address corrosion anomalies.
- Support Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) and asset integrity programs.
- Conduct investigations and root cause analysis of material failures.
- Deep understanding of materials science, metallurgy, and corrosion mechanisms.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, and relevant technical standards.
- Experience in both offshore and onshore oil & gas facilities.
- Familiarity with corrosion modelling tools (e.g., OLI, CO2Sys, ECE).
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical reporting skills.
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Relevant professional experience in materials or corrosion engineering.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with proven ability to prepare technical reports and specifications.
