Marine Lead (Civil)

Job Purpose
  • Lead the marine engineering discipline in FEED and EPC phases, ensuring technical objectives are achieved within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance on marine design activities to contractors and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Manage engineering surveillance, planning, and execution from design to startup.
  • Resolve marine-related technical issues to ensure smooth delivery of project milestones.
  • Monitor discipline progress, contractor performance, and compliance with requirements.
Reporting & Relationships
  • Reports to: Head of Civil & Structural Engineering
  • Direct reports: None
  • Internal: Works closely with project teams, operations, shipping, and port authorities.
  • External: Regular contact with FEED/EPC contractors, vendors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide safety leadership by promoting SHES standards and actively participating in site safety initiatives.
  2. Deliver technical expertise in marine engineering, ensuring compliance with regulations, specifications, and best practices.
  3. Resolve marine discipline issues in a timely manner to support project objectives.
  4. Oversee contractors’ design and execution activities, ensuring adequate resources, tools, and personnel competency.
  5. Coordinate marine engineering input with other disciplines such as construction, procurement, and quality.
  6. Track and report requests and requirements related to berth areas, dredging, and marine operations.
  7. Ensure timely delivery of marine-related deliverables from contractors and subcontractors.
  8. Support commissioning and system completion activities with appropriate recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Marine Disciplines, or Engineering.
    Or Diploma in Marine/Nautical disciplines with STCW II/2 or III/2 certification.
  • Minimum 8 years of seagoing experience as shipboard engineer or officer, including at least 1 year as Chief Engineer or Master.
  • Knowledge of oil & gas industry bodies, maritime/shipping regulations, and international codes/standards.
  • Experience managing offshore marine units and berth/marine facility designs.
  • Advantage: Knowledge in seabed dredging, brownfield execution, hydrodynamic studies, mooring analysis, metocean data, and LNG/liquid product berths.
  • Familiarity with marine piles and marine-related software such as Optimoor.
