Maintenance Engineering Specialist – Instrumentation

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineering Specialist – Instrumentation to join a major LNG producing plant. This is a senior-level role within the Maintenance team, responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, reliability, and availability of instrumentation systems across the facility.

Role Purpose You will perform and oversee all Engineering Maintenance Instrumentation activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, while maintaining full compliance with company and international standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of personnel, environmental protection, and technical integrity of instrumentation systems.
  • Promote and enforce HSE policies and contribute to a strong safety culture.
  • Review and optimise preventive maintenance plans, adjusting frequencies and tasks as required.
  • Supervise scheduling and execution of all instrumentation maintenance activities.
  • Prepare monthly KPI reports (preventive, corrective, performance, cost and budget follow-up).
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to Maintenance and Reliability teams.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis (RCA), HAZOPs, risk assessments, and technical reviews.
  • Validate and approve maintenance procedures in line with company maintenance policy.
  • Ensure quality control during maintenance execution.
  • Manage spare parts strategy including stock reviews, material identification, and financial justification.
  • Coordinate site instrumentation contractors and ensure compliance with contract deliverables.
  • Develop technical scopes of work and support contractor prequalification processes.
  • Initiate and implement modifications via the Management of Change (MOC) system.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Instrumentation systems, integration, and maintenance methods.
  • Excellent knowledge of international safety standards including ATEX and IECEx.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, API, EN, NEMA, ISO).
  • Good working knowledge of SAP or similar CMMS systems.
  • Experience with:
    • Centrifugal compressor control & anti-surge systems
    • Turbine control and protection systems
    • Natural gas processing instrumentation
    • Analytical instruments
    • DCS and PLC systems
    • Loading arms instrumentation
    • Fire & Gas Systems (FGS)
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in maintenance within oil, gas, or petrochemical industries.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in LNG producing plants (not LNG terminals).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
