Mechanical Supervisor

Location: Project / Yard / Offshore
Type: Contract or Staff Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support the delivery of a major oil & gas project. This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical construction and installation activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and schedule.

Key Responsibilities Supervision & Execution
  • Supervise mechanical works including equipment installation, piping fabrication and erection, rotating equipment alignment, and valve installation
  • Coordinate site activities across mechanical crews, subcontractors, and third-party vendors
  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and installation procedures
Planning & Coordination
  • Plan and organise daily and weekly mechanical activities in line with project priorities
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to prevent clashes and delays
  • Ensure availability and readiness of materials, tools, and equipment prior to execution
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, industry standards (e.g. ASME, API), and quality requirements
  • Conduct inspections, participate in mechanical walkdowns, and support punch list closure
  • Verify correct torqueing, alignment, leveling, and system cleanliness prior to testing and handover
HSE Management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all mechanical activities
  • Deliver toolbox talks and support risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Identify and intervene in unsafe conditions or behaviours
Testing & Commissioning Support
  • Support mechanical completion, system testing (hydrotesting, flushing, leak testing), and pre-commissioning activities
  • Assist in preparation of test packs, redline mark-ups, and turnover documentation
  • Participate in system handover and readiness reviews
Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and oil & gas equipment (rotating and static)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and installation procedures
  • Proven experience supervising construction teams on major projects
  • Good leadership, communication, and coordination skills
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and mechanical punch list management
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing and site execution
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Post-graduate experience in mechanical construction within oil & gas or similar industries
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong reporting and documentation skills
