LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer

Job Title: LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer
Location: Sohar, Oman
Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable)
An exciting opportunity is available for a seasoned LNG professional to support commissioning, start-up, and early operations of a major LNG bunkering project. This role is key to ensuring safe, efficient plant start-up and a smooth transition into stable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning & Start-up Preparation

• Review contractor commissioning procedures and documentation
• Develop and issue start-up sequences and operating procedures
• Ensure alignment with engineering requirements and vendor recommendations
• Coordinate interfaces between contractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Ensure readiness of all documentation prior to first gas

Execution Phase

• Support on-site commissioning and start-up activities
• Monitor progress in line with agreed sequences and priorities
• Contribute to risk assessments and operational planning
• Prepare system status data sheets and start-up parameters
• Identify and escalate issues impacting safety or performance

Initial Operations

• Assist with plant stabilisation and optimisation
• Support improvements in performance, efficiency, and reliability

HSE & Leadership

• Promote a strong HSE culture and ensure compliance with PTW systems
• Ensure all activities are executed in line with safety standards
• Mentor and support development of operations personnel

Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• 15+ years’ experience in oil & gas, including LNG projects
• Strong background in commissioning, start-up, and operations
• Solid understanding of LNG processes and plant systems
• Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills
