LEAD SUBSEA ENGINEER (Superintendent Level)

 Offshore Drilling Campaign

Residential - initially based in Pau, France for 6 months then Maputo, Mozambique after that.


Contract Lead Subsea Engineer, responsible for rig-based subsea well construction operations required on a multi-billion-dollar field development offshore Mozambique.

This is a superintendent-level position, embedded in the Drilling & Wells team, responsible for overseeing subsea completions and intervention operations from the preparation phase through execution. You will supervise all subsea contractors, ensure equipment readiness, and act as the primary point of contact for subsea operations onboard one or two deepwater drillships operating in 700–1400m of water.


Responsibilities

  • Lead HSE and operational risk initiatives (HAZOPs, contingency plans)
  • Supervise all subsea contractors during rig-based execution
  • Prepare job programs for installation, testing, and deployment of subsea equipment
  • Oversee IWOCS, XT installation, wellhead deployment, and associated tooling
  • Ensure Subsea Emergency Response Systems are operational and ready
  • Act as the daily point of contact for completions and intervention activities

✅ Requirements

  • 15+ years in Drilling & Wells, including experience as Subsea Superintendent or Subsea Engineer
  • Hands-on experience with vertical subsea trees, IWOCS, landing strings, and open water intervention
  • Knowledge of TechnipFMC vertical systems preferred
  • Valid IWCF Subsea Well Control and BOSIET certifications
  • Strong English communication; prior Africa or multicultural experience preferred
