We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Reservoir Engineer role. This position is based in Muscat, Oman.
Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in Reservoir Engineering within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in offshore operations.

Job purpose
The Lead Reservoir Engineer provides hands-on reservoir engineering support for Block 8, ensuring timely and technically sound delivery of the key in-house subsurface work program. The role will execute and coordinate reservoir engineering and dynamic simulation activities for Block 8 or other company assets, including model update, forecasting, scenario generation, appraisal support and Field Development Plan inputs and write-up.
The position integrates surveillance, production and test data (including PVT, SCAL, PTA/RTA, pressure data and production history) with relevant geological and petrophysical inputs to evaluate reservoir and well performance, identify opportunities and risks, and support decision-making on development, optimization and subsurface studies.
The role is intended to reinforce the in-house Subsurface Team, working closely with Geoscience, Operations, Well Engineering and Facilities to deliver fit-for-purpose technical work, maintain data quality and documentation standards, and support consistent application of company technical practices.
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent discipline such as Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or Geoscience with strong reservoir engineering experience). A postgraduate degree (MSc/MBA) is an advantage.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Execute assigned reservoir engineering studies and provide strong technical support to the Head of Subsurface for delivery of the Block 8 work plan.
Build, update, maintain and apply reservoir simulation models for West Bukha, Bukha and Tibat to support reservoir management, depletion planning, forecasting and FDP updates.
Integrate static model inputs, including DFN-related understanding where applicable, into dynamic studies and ensure consistency between geological interpretation and reservoir engineering outputs.
Perform history matching, sensitivity studies, uncertainty assessment and scenario generation to support technically defensible development options and reporting.
Evaluate well and reservoir performance using production data, pressure behaviour, material balance concepts, inflow/outflow analysis and other fit-for-purpose reservoir engineering methods.
Analyse and integrate surveillance and test data, including PVT, SCAL, RFT/MDT, build-up data and well test interpretation results (PTA/RTA), into reservoir studies and recommendations.
Support appraisal and development activities, including inputs for Tibat-2 well location proposal and other near-field exploration or appraisal opportunities.
Provide reservoir engineering input to artificial lift optimization, well modelling, well completion and production system analysis activities in coordination with the relevant disciplines.
Contribute to subsurface studies such as geomechanics, regional geological framing, 3D seismic revision and fault seal analysis, ensuring proper RE integration where required.
Develop and maintain reservoir management plans, surveillance requirements and data acquisition recommendations to improve understanding of field performance and remaining uncertainties.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, dashboards and management summaries, including inputs required for internal governance, planning cycles and regulator reporting where applicable.
Coordinate effectively with Geoscience, Wells, Operations, Facilities, Planning and external contractors to ensure timely delivery of integrated subsurface studies.
Review third-party technical studies, challenge assumptions where needed, and recommend additional work or alternative approaches to improve the quality of outcomes.
Participate in technical assurance, peer reviews and decision-analysis sessions to support robust and traceable recommendations.
Coach junior engineers and contribute to knowledge transfer, continuous improvement and adoption of fit-for-purpose new technologies and workflows.
Background and experience
Experience level: Lead Reservoir Engineer: minimum 10 years of relevant reservoir engineering experience, with demonstrated delivery in mature/brownfield assets and integrated subsurface studies.
Reservoir engineering depth: Strong, hands-on experience in reservoir management and depletion strategy, well and reservoir performance evaluation, forecasting, and uncertainty assessment.
Dynamic modelling and simulation: strong and proven track record in reservoir simulation (model development/maintenance, history match support, scenario evaluation, and forecasting) and integration of petrophysics, PVT, SCAL and surveillance data into dynamic models.
Surveillance and testing: Solid experience in well test interpretation (PTA/RTA), pressure and formation data interpretation (RFT/MDT), and use of surveillance results to guide reservoir management decisions.
Integrated studies: Demonstrated experience working with geoscientists and multi-discipline teams (G&G, production, drilling, facilities/projects) in integrated field development and reservoir maturation studies.
Planning / governance exposure: Experience supporting business planning (WP&B), input to development programs and well proposals, and preparation of high-quality technical reporting for management and external stakeholders (including regulator reporting where applicable).
Tools: Proficiency with relevant industry software (reservoir simulation tools, PTA, PVT modelling, and production analysis/economic evaluation tools), with strong data handling and QA/QC discipline.
Asset valuation (advantage): Experience supporting asset evaluation and/or acquisition/divestment technical assessments is desirable.

Solid ability to review and challenge G&G inputs, integrate geological uncertainties into RE studies, and recommend fit-for-purpose additional studies.
