- Provide comprehensive management and technical leadership for all aspects of the planning and scheduling function. This includes developing robust project control procedures, guidelines, and flowcharts tailored to project requirements, all designed to support critical management decision-making.
- Coordinate essential input from various Project Management Team (PMT) functions, such as engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This is crucial for validating the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) schedule and ensuring integrated project planning and execution.
- Responsible for developing, controlling, analyzing, and recommending improvements to all planning and scheduling functions.
- A key part of the role will be ensuring that contractors and subcontractors effectively implement project planning, scheduling, and Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes, driving efficiency and predictability.
- Support the preparation of all planning and scheduling deliverables required for project gates, ensuring alignment with the Company's Project Management System.
- Responsible for reviewing and ensuring the effective implementation and continuous updating of the EPC Project Planning and Scheduling procedure.
- Collect, consolidate, analyze, and report on schedule trends and progress, including productivity. This helps in assessing overall project status, identifying potential problem areas, conducting delay/impact analyses, and evaluating schedule recovery plans, including resource needs.
- Implement project changes, assess their schedule impacts, and ensure these impacts are accurately reflected and incorporated into overall schedule stewardship and reporting.
- Evaluate contractor performance in project controls (specifically planning and scheduling), identifying discrepancies and working with contractors for clarifications or corrections. This also involves identifying and ensuring the use of appropriate, fully integrated planning systems for the project.
- Review contractor schedules and collaborate closely with PMT project area managers to address potential concerns and provide essential planning and scheduling support to overcome execution challenges.
Qualifications & Experience
- Lead Planner with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- At least 8 years of experience in major oil and gas projects, with a strong background in project controls, specifically planning and scheduling management.
- At least 3 years of that experience should be in a supervisory role. Experience working with EPC Contractors, Sub-contractors, and Vendors in the oil and gas industry is essential.
Skills
- Highly skilled in planning software like Primavera (advanced level is a must), along with other scheduling tools and strong computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database/Power BI.
- Beyond technical prowess, possess excellent written and oral English skills, strong negotiating and influencing abilities, and sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Work independently within established procedures, take initiative to deliver timely and cost-effective service, and effectively organize team efforts for efficiency.
- A collaborative team player, capable of guiding staff and internal customers through complex tasks.
