Lead Electrical / HVAC Engineer – Maintenance & Integrity

Location: Kampala / Site, Uganda
Start: Mar/April 2026 | Duration: 18 months+ | Status: Resident/5 Days a week

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical / HVAC Engineer to join a major greenfield onshore energy development in Uganda. This is a senior resident role reporting directly to the Head of Maintenance, with full technical accountability for the Electrical discipline during project handover, start-up, and early operational phases.
The successful candidate will technically lead all Electrical maintenance and integrity activities, ensuring systems, procedures, resources, and competencies are fully established to support a safe, reliable, and efficient transition into production. The role will play a key part in minimizing operational risk at start-up and supporting long-term asset performance.

Key responsibilities include leading the development of Maintenance, Integrity and Engineering (MIE) deliverables for Electrical systems; reviewing EPC and contractor documentation within the Electronic Data Management System; contributing to maintenance strategies, criticality assessments, and spare parts definition; and ensuring compliance with national legislation, international standards, and company specifications. You will oversee the preparation of complex maintenance and operating procedures, including black start, electrical switching, grid connection, and safe systems of work.
The role also involves supporting commissioning and start-up activities, attending FATs and SATs, acting as technical authority for Electrical safety, supporting recruitment and training of site personnel, and developing scopes of work for specialist maintenance contracts. During operations, you will provide specialist engineering support, lead investigations into equipment failures, manage discipline budgets, and ensure full regulatory compliance.
This position is based at a remote onshore site near Lake Albert, operating in a multicultural environment with sensitive environmental conditions and a very high electrical equipment density.

Requirements:
Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Instrumentation Engineering, minimum 12 years’ relevant experience in oil & gas or petrochemical operations, strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, and prior operational plant experience in a supervisory or technical authority role.
