Lead Electrical Engineer - Wind Power Generation

Our client, a world leader in the production of industrial chemicals and gases is now pioneering new technologies to supply the sustainable production of renewable energy. As part of a rapid expansion in this business unit, our client is looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer with expert knowledge of wind power generation and wind farm technology

As part of this exciting opportunity, the selected candidate will get the opportunity to play a key role in the engineering effort of the NEOM mega-city project.


  • Responsible for providing specialist electrical engineering services to a pioneering renewable energy project.
  • Committed to executing projects on time and on budget (hours/capital) to ensure project profitability is maintained.
  • Supervise others in their group to ensure the same while coordinating with the wider team to facilitate efficient and effective project execution.
  • Be experienced in interacting with and managing external EPC contractors as well as effective working with other regional design offices.
  • Leading execution of all elements of the electrical scope of work on renewable energy proposals and projects executed in the EMEA region, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
  • Manage external EPCs to ensure delivery of projects on time and on schedule
  • Coordinate the efforts of the Electrical Designers
  • Provide expert input into in-house electrical design standards
  • Procure new suppliers and develop relationships with outsourcing partners
  • Define and improve execution models for the electrical engineering scope.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering or associated discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartered status
  • Proven experience in electrical power engineering, in particular, control of large power systems via an Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
  • Working knowledge of renewable power generation as well as experience in distribution and control of power over large areas and interconnection with the grid / renewable power generation on large power systems.
  • Experienced in supervisory positions with budgetary responsibility
  • Experience in specification and procurement of low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, power transformers, and power electronics (LCIs, VSDs, and Thyristor controllers)
  • Able to work with software packages for analysis of power systems (SKM Powertools or ETAP)
  • UK Based but willing to travel for extended periods of time to manage EPC Contractors
  • Experience in Onshore wind farms and good knowledge of wind turbine operations is a prerequisite.
