Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of a major industrial engineering programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with applicable standards, and delivery to project schedules and budgets.
Working within a multi-disciplinary project team, you will provide electrical engineering expertise across design, procurement, vendor management, and project execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute electrical engineering activities in accordance with project procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule commitments.
  • Develop and produce key electrical engineering deliverables, including:
    • Basis of Design documents
    • Technical specifications
    • Electrical load lists
    • Equipment datasheets
    • Engineering calculations
    • Single line diagrams
    • Equipment sizing studies
    • Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
    • Electrical drawings and design documentation
  • Perform electrical system studies using ETAP, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and protection coordination studies.
  • Provide technical input into equipment layouts, equipment selection, and project cost estimates.
  • Design motor control and protection systems, including associated schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Support procurement activities through preparation of technical requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor selection processes.
  • Review vendor documentation and designs to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable industry standards.
  • Participate in project reviews, progress meetings, design reviews, and vendor meetings.
  • Ensure project scope is clearly defined and that all modifications are managed through approved change management processes.
  • Prepare progress reports and ensure all engineering activities comply with required checking and quality procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and international electrical engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and project team members.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering design and project delivery within industrial, energy, petrochemical, oil & gas, or process industries.
  • Strong experience performing electrical system studies using ETAP.
  • Proven capability in the preparation and review of detailed electrical engineering deliverables and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of LV and MV electrical systems, motor control, protection systems, and power distribution.
  • Experience supporting procurement activities, including technical bid evaluations and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working on brownfield modification and upgrade projects.
  • Previous involvement in large-scale industrial processing facilities.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progression towards professional registration is advantageous.
