Laboratory Coordinator Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative candidate for the role of Laboratory Coordinator, Biologics Sample Inventory Management and Lab Operation.
The successful candidate will have a critical role in supporting the overall Biologics CMC R&D select agent and toxin program by managing select agent and toxin (SAT) samples inventory including supporting internal and external audits and general lab operation in highly regulated laboratory environment.
He/she will be the team Subject Matter Expert regarding a custom inventory database as well as policies and procedures for SAT samples registration, dispense, shipment, and receipt of inventory. Specifically, he/she will coordinate shipment and receipt of samples, including entry of inventory into the electronic inventory system. The candidate will actively participate in inventory audits and will represent the team in interactions with EH&S and both internal and external auditing agencies.
The position is an entry level position in the scientific track, supporting highly regulated inventory requirements.
An ideal candidate would have the ability to work as an integral part of Neurotoxin & Biologics Process Science team and supporting other Biologics CMC teams as well as demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative applied to the various duties and aspects of position.
Furthermore, the position requires the individual to work with regulated Select Agents and Toxins access (i.e., Biosafety level 2 and biosafety level 3 laboratories). Access to and use of select agents is regulated by federal policies. Therefore, the candidate must conduct all work activities in compliance with internal and applicable regulatory requirements including health screening and background checks.

Laboratory Coordinator Key Duties:
- Coordinate the work with PIs and be responsible for documenting inventory audits of cold storage units, including regular spot checks of SAT samples. Work with PIs, EHS, and IT communicate departmental needs and to evaluate the impact of changes to the inventory system. Recommend policy and procedural changes and test the inventory system as needed.
- Assist team members, EHS, and shipping to organize, obtain approvals, and document shipments and receipt, including registration of samples into the electronic inventory system.
- Escort vendors and service technicians during on-site visits into research labs.
- Responsible for managing storage devices and relevant laboratory equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Responsible for managing inventory of common reagents and consumables to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Must be willing to work with and handle potent neurotoxins and in-process samples that may contain toxin-expressing organisms.
- The candidate must productively interact with and accept direction from multiple different team members in a highly matrixed organization.
- Assist in new equip induction and retire old from Maximo system.
- Participate on the EHS Lab Safety Team.
- Pipette Inventory
- Monitor non-SAT freezers and ensure working condition.
- Stocking shelves
- Submit work orders for repairs.
- Actively responding to freezer monitoring systems and its management with 24/7 support.
- Furthermore, duties include lab operation support such as ordering raw materials, consumables, in-process sample inventory management, lab supply stock maintenance, and lab organization.
- BS (in scientific discipline) or with 3+ years of related work experience supporting complex, highly regulated laboratories activities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and diligence in record keeping.
- Exhibits flexibility and a commitment to scientific excellence.
- Highly motivated, proactive hands-on scientist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- An incumbent candidate with a focus on improving efficiency in lab operations is preferred.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to productively communicate with disparate personnel and departments.
