Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for a 6-month contract based in Surrey, supporting a range of client-facing and internal projects.
The role will involve managing multiple IT and people-focused projects, including the mobilisation and transition of key client accounts. You will ensure high-quality delivery, maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and align technical solutions and project outcomes with business objectives.
This position offers hybrid working, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Key Skills & Experience – Essential

  • 5+ years’ project management experience, particularly delivering client-facing projects within sectors such as IT, software development, consulting, or professional services
  • Experience supporting public sector technology programmes
  • Proven ability to run effective project governance with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong relationship management skills, working collaboratively with vendors, clients, and technical teams
  • Experience using project delivery methodologies, including planning, scope management, change control, governance, and RAID management
  • Ability to balance client flexibility with budget and delivery commitments
  • Experience creating and managing project plans, including resource requirements, critical paths, and key delivery milestones
  • Proficiency with project planning and delivery tools
  • Experience working with Agile, Scrum, and/or Waterfall methodologies, with the ability to adapt approaches based on project needs
  • Experience delivering projects in fast-paced operational environments, managing multiple projects simultaneously from initiation to closure
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex scopes, identify dependencies, constraints, and opportunities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure, including a general understanding of software development and system architecture
Desirable Experience
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivering projects to or for public sector clients
  • Experience delivering within secure environments (Official-Sensitive or higher)
Responsibilities
  • Manage a range of projects, often running in parallel, while supporting larger programme initiatives
  • Plan and deliver projects, including those within mobilisation programmes, to fixed timelines
  • Drive projects through the full lifecycle, from definition and planning through to delivery and closure
  • Manage project schedule, budget, resources, quality, risks, issues, change, and stakeholder engagement
  • Maintain standard project management documentation including plans, schedules, budgets, and reports to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Oversee project governance, including stakeholder reporting, change management, and issue resolution
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring challenges are proactively managed
  • Work closely with third-party clients and vendors to support the delivery of service-focused projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, operations, business stakeholders, and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry regulations, and internal policies
  • Support continuous improvement through project reviews and lessons learned activities
