Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
- Functional head of integrity management covering pressure systems, structures and pipelines, ensuring robust systems are in place for inspection, risk-based assessment, prioritisation of integrity defects and management of fabric maintenance and repairs.
- Lead a team of integrity engineers (pressure systems, structures and pipelines) to ensure business priorities are delivered. Create a high performing team through effective coaching, performance management and annual assessments.
- Functional head of integrity, ensuring discipline health across all areas of the business (Engineering and Operations teams) including competence assurance, development of team and succession planning. Ensure adequate resources are in place in each team to effectively manage asset integrity.
- The role includes managing outsourced discipline Technical Authorities.
- Establish and maintain management system documents for all aspects of integrity management.
- Ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the procedures and strategies and apply a continuous improvement approach to these.
- Ensure effective tools are in place to manage data for all aspects of integrity management (anomaly management, Risk Based Assessments, CUI tracking etc). Apply modern software tools to optimise the management of these.
- Ensures asset integrity management plans are developed and maintained consistent with identified risks and asset life expectancy. Ensure that annual plans and budgets are agreed with each Asset Manager in a timely manner and monitor delivery of integrity activities in the annual plan.
- Responsible for ensuring annual integrity summary reports are issued for pressure systems, structures and pipelines, identifying critical issues and recovery action plans.
- Responsible for developing strategies to ensure asset integrity can be maintained for the full life of the asset including life extension options where applicable. This includes developing strategies for repair or replacement of identified systems where remedial work is required to reach planned asset life.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support operations, modifications, projects and TAR decision making.
- Maintain oversight and assurance of work carried in asset teams including inspection personnel offshore and integrity team members deployed in asset teams. Provide direction and support as required.
- Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and digital solutions to enhance efficiency of inspection and remedial work, process safety, and data-driven decision making.
- Contract owner for relevant contracts as required. Hold regular performance reviews with key contractors to ensure service quality is maintained.
Risk Assessment and Management
- Review and evaluate Operational Risk Assessments and other asset risk evaluations to ensure that potential hazards are identified, analysed, and mitigated appropriately.
- Support the Management of Change (MoC) process by ensuring that any operational or technical changes are thoroughly evaluated and approved prior to implementation.
- Approval authority for specific processes including management review of work order deferrals as required by OMS procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams in the identification and management of asset risks, ensuring that robust risk reduction strategies are implemented.
- Report significant integrity threats or other Process Safety concerns to Asset Manager and ELT members as applicable.
- Ensures HSE and IVB audit findings relating to integrity are prioritised and addressed.
Audit and Assurance Activities
- Lead and coordinate internal audits and assurance reviews relating to integrity.
- Provide independent assurance to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and assurance metrics to monitor effectiveness of the integrity management processes. Apply a continuous improvement approach to drive down risk associated with integrity management. Intervene when KPIs identify new threats and liaise with the Asset Manager to agree recovery plans.
Project Oversight
- Support project teams with input to design decisions, review of key deliverables (such as Basis of Design documents) and resolving technical queries.
Incident Response and Investigation
- Lead technical investigations and root cause analyses (RCA) for discipline related incidents or equipment failures.
- Ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented and lessons learned are integrated into updated procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with regulators, duty-holder forums and industry bodies to share and influence good practice and guidance relevant to the regulatory regime.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical or Structural Engineering). Chartered status preferred.
- Significant experience in relevant integrity management roles across the asset lifecycle in UKCS oil and gas operations.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable safety regulations, industry standards, good practice and guidance relating to the integrity.
- Detailed understanding of key legislation and regulatory framework applicable to UKCS offshore installations.
- Proven line management skills with the ability to create a high performing team.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Provides robust, independent technical judgement and is prepared to challenge decisions where safety, integrity or compliance may be compromised.
