We currently have an opportunity for an Inspector Central Inspection. This position is based in Suhar, Oman
 
Job purpose
Execute standardizing integrity management practices across multiple assets within the RPI assets, under Team Lead Central Inspection  -Asset Integrity for overseeing the integrity of multiple assets across the entire refinery and  coordinating and standardizing inspection and integrity management practices across various units and assets, acting as team player Inspection standards, through  (1)  execute the overall asset integrity management program for RPI, including policies, procedures, and standards, (2) Coordinate inspection activities across different units and ensure consistency in integrity management practices, (3) Conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards across all assets, and (4) Analyze data from inspections and monitoring activities to identify trends and systemic issues affecting asset integrity; in order to contribute to highest levels of services,  quality, safety and productivity,  reliability, and performance of critical components in Plants environment.
 
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
 
Scope

• Overseeing the integrity of multiple assets across the entire refinery including:
  • Suhar Refineries
  • Liwa Plastics
  • MAF Refinery
  • Aromatics
• Program Development for those assets.
• Coordination and standardizing inspection practices across RPI units and assets
• Compliance and Audits
• Data Analysis and Reporting
• Non-destructive testing (NDT) and Assessment of equipment, structures, and system including:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Radiographic Testing (RT): Involves using X-rays or gamma rays to inspect the internal structure of materials.
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): Detects surface and near-surface defects using magnetic fields and particles.
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT): Identifies surface cracks and defects by applying a coloured liquid.
  • Visual Inspection (VT): Involves direct observation of surfaces for visual anomalies.
• NDT in Equipment
  • Pressure Vessels: NDT techniques can detect corrosion, cracks, and defects in pressure vessel walls that could lead to leaks or failures.
  • Piping: NDT is used to identify internal and external corrosion, erosion, and weld defects in piping systems.
  • Heat Exchangers: NDT helps assess the condition of heat exchanger tubes to ensure efficient heat transfer and prevent leakage.
• NTD in Structures:
  • Storage Tanks: NDT techniques are used to monitor the integrity of storage tanks, detecting corrosion, pitting, and cracks that could lead to leaks or structural failures.
  • Pipelines: NDT is applied to inspect underground and above-ground pipelines for corrosion, defects, and damage that could compromise the transport of fluids
• NDT in Systems:
  • Pressure Relief Devices: NDT ensures the proper functioning of pressure relief valves and devices, preventing overpressure situations.
  • Electrical Systems: NDT techniques can assess the condition of electrical cables, connections, and components to prevent short circuits and hazards.

Welding Inspection:

• Welding symbol identification, Conversent knowledge on welding methods.
• Knowledge on WPS, PQR & WQT
• Familiarity in weld defect identification

Piping and Equipment integrity test:

• Familiarity in hydrotest, pneumatic test, leak test

 
 
Notable Working Conditions: Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

• Diploma or bachelor’s in engineering or related.
• Certification Holder of CSWIP 3.1/3,2 and API 510/570/653 or National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) certification is an advantage.

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)
 
Background and experience
 
Bachelor
Inspector - 1-2 years of relevant experience
 
Diploma
<2 years of relevant experience
 
Both:

• working knowledge of MCE, D&D, E&I
• Must have industry certifications such as ASME, API, NDT, or NACE
• Knowledge in software applications like Meridiam, PI, and RBI etc.
• Knowledge of:
• Certification and Training: Relevant certifications such as API 580/581 (Risk-Based Inspection) or API 570 (Piping Inspection Code) are advantageous.
• Corrosion Monitoring Techniques & Corrosion Inhibitors and Corrosion Control Measures
• Coating And Cathodic Protection
• NACE, ASME and other industry codes
• RBI, RCA, and Defect Elimination.
• Risk Assessments, HAZOPS & Safety
• Good knowledge in QA/QC, ISO 9001, ISO 1400 and HSE plans.
• Knowledge & experience in NDT & specialized equipment inspection techniques.
• Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.

 
 
Technical:

• Computer literate with expertise in MS Office.
• Comprehensive understanding of various assets and systems within the refinery, including their design, operation, and maintenance.
• Quality Control Procedures/Methodologies & Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
• Management of Material Resources
• Applicable Code & Standards and Government Regulation
• Understanding & knowledge of ASME Sec.IIX, Sec.V, ASTM, API, NACE.
• Non-Destructive Testing & Welding Inspection Technique and Procedure.
• Knowledge of inspection, corrosion engineering, welding, materials, and QA / QC.
• Understanding of Process Plant, Read & understand P& ID / PFD / Isometrics & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
• Equipment Inspection Failure Diagnosis/Analysis
