We are looking for an experienced Industrial Hygienist Specialist to provide technical industrial hygiene and occupational health support during major Oil & Gas projects, including EPC, commissioning and start-up activities.
The role will focus on identifying, assessing and controlling workplace health hazards and ensuring effective occupational health protection throughout project start-up and handover to the operations team.
Duration Two (2) year initial contract with a possibility of extension.
Work location - Onshore (Ras Laffan/Doha HQ)
 
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate and implement Industrial Hygiene Programs (IHP) for major onshore and offshore projects.
Conduct Health Risk Assessments (HRA) to identify and evaluate occupational health hazards and workforce exposure.
Develop project-specific Exposure Assessment Strategies (EAS) based on HRA findings.
Plan and implement personal exposure monitoring programs for different Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs).
Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of workplace exposure risks.
Identify, assess and control workplace health hazards, including:
Chemical hazards
Physical hazards
Biological hazards
Noise and vibration
Heat stress
Radiation
Respiratory hazards
Ergonomic hazards
Develop and implement monitoring and control strategies for unacceptable exposures.
Establish appropriate engineering and non-engineering controls, including safe work practices and PPE, and evaluate their effectiveness.
Coordinate with Medical and HSE teams on occupational health issues and appropriate medical monitoring requirements.
Conduct Industrial Hygiene audits and inspections to identify gaps and ensure compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
Develop and deliver workplace health awareness and training programs covering exposure prevention, hazard communication, hearing conservation, heat stress, radiation protection, respiratory protection and ergonomics.
Develop competency and training programs related to Industrial Hygiene and occupational health.
Review and assess new chemicals, including routine and non-routine chemicals, to determine their suitability for use and recommend appropriate exposure controls.
Develop, review and improve Industrial Hygiene procedures, standards and processes.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and establish action plans and performance indicators.
Provide technical consultation and advice on complex Industrial Hygiene and occupational health issues.
Participate in HSE risk assessment workshops and communicate health-risk priorities and recommended mitigation measures.
Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders on occupational health and Industrial Hygiene requirements.
Support the effective handover of Industrial Hygiene programs, monitoring equipment, records and procedures to the operating team following project start-up.
Ensure all activities comply with applicable company policies, regulatory requirements and internationally recognized Industrial Hygiene and occupational health standards.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
Professional certification such as CIH, ROH or COH is highly desirable.
Additional safety qualifications such as CSP, CRSP or CMIOSH would be an advantage.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
Minimum 8 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene / Occupational Health & Safety, including at least 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, petrochemical or manufacturing industry.
Strong experience in Industrial Hygiene programs and exposure assessment.
Experience conducting Health Risk Assessments (HRA) and personal exposure monitoring.
Experience developing Exposure Assessment Strategies and Similar Exposure Group (SEG) assessments.
Strong knowledge of occupational health hazards and exposure control techniques.
Experience in both onshore and offshore environments is preferred.
Experience with Industrial Hygiene audits, inspections and compliance programs.
Knowledge of chemical safety, toxicology and workplace exposure limits.
Experience developing and delivering occupational health and Industrial Hygiene training.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and internationally recognized Industrial Hygiene standards.
