Job Title: Instrumentation and Electrical Technician
Reports To: Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose
The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of production and gas plant facilities located at Weston Common and associated wellsites.
While reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the role may also take direction from the Operations Manager or Operations Supervisor/Superintendent, depending on operational requirements and task relevance.

Job Purpose
The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of production and gas plant facilities located at Weston Common and associated wellsites.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will be assigned by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and/or Operations Supervisor/Superintendent and will include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, scheduling, executing, and recording routine maintenance activities
- Identifying, scheduling, and completing non-routine maintenance and repair work
- Performing routine servicing of process control instrumentation (e.g. transmitters, controllers, analysers)
- Supporting or undertaking vendor-specified maintenance activities
- Maintaining site services in a safe and fully operational condition
- Participating in a 24-hour call-out rota where possible, or providing remote technical support outside normal working hours
- Ensuring high standards of housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free working environment
- Assisting colleagues and demonstrating a working understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
- Carrying out equipment isolations to ensure safe maintenance conditions
- Supporting installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment
- Working alongside specialist vendor engineers to ensure efficient and compliant servicing
- Supervising and liaising with contractors to ensure adherence to permit requirements and company standards
- Developing technical knowledge through training and engagement with equipment suppliers to enhance maintenance quality and efficiency
- 4–5 years’ maintenance experience with instrumentation and/or electrical equipment
- Recognised instrumentation qualification (e.g. apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3), with a strong working knowledge of electrical systems
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Proven capability to take ownership of both routine and non-routine maintenance tasks
- Understanding of oil and gas industry operations
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills to ensure safe and efficient system operation
- Effective team player with the ability to communicate across all levels and with external stakeholders
- High level of diligence, reliability, and accountability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Proactive and results-driven approach
- IT literate
- The role includes occasional weekend, evening, and bank holiday working
- Participation in an on-call rota is required
- Candidates must reside within one hour’s travel distance due to call-out requirements
- The role is approximately 85% instrumentation-focused
- The job holder may be required to undertake any reasonable duties requested by senior management
