POSITION TITLE:
HVAC Commissioning Engineer

KEY ROLEThis role is for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project which will build a new Normally Uninhabited Installation (NUI) to be installed in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan. The role will be based in the selected engineering contractor office and selected fabrication facility in Baku (Azerbaijan) and offshore during Greenfield and Brownfield hook up and commissioning.
 
The SDC HVAC Commissioning Engineer will support the SDC Commissioning Manager in the safe and efficient delivery of Greenfield and Brownfield HVAC systems. The role includes HVAC fabrication and construction contractor oversight, commissioning readiness, Mechanical Completion acceptance, pre-commissioning, commissioning and coordination with the Operations team through system handover for the SDC project.
 
The HVAC Commissioning Engineer will set high standards in HSSE and quality and will promote and role model the bp “Who We Are” expectations. In the SDC this is a commissioning execution and assurance role, with responsibility for overseeing the quality and readiness of HVAC systems during fabrication, construction, preservation, testing and commissioning.

BASIC SKILLS
  • A high-level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead field execution, provide clear technical direction and work effectively across Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, QA/QC, contractor, vendor and Operations interfaces.
  • Strong planning, problem solving and reporting capability.
  • Significant experience on HVAC equipment commissioning is essential.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Higher education and an extensive HVAC Equipment commissioning experience base is essential.
  • Working knowledge of applicable HVAC codes, standards, project specifications, vendor requirements, inspection and testing practices, completion systems and Permit-to-Work requirements.

EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of effectively interfacing and working together with Design / Construction and Commissioning Contractors and Operations entities.
  • Experience with HSSE issues related to on-site activities.
  • Deep understanding of bp Construction & Commissioning Defined Practices (or similar) for both Greenfield and Brownfield projects and the latest international standards that assure integrity of build and construction quality.
  • Experience with diverse work forces would be highly desirable.
  • Technical and hands-on experience with gas compressors, centrifugal/reciprocating pumps and associated auxiliary systems

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
  • Demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSE behaviours at all times and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained.
  • Support the Mechanical Commissioning Lead on SoW and Schedule development and input to the contractor selection.
  • Provide commissioning oversight of the HVAC fabrication and construction contractor’s execution, including fabrication, installation, preservation, inspection, testing, reinstatement and completion of HVAC systems.
  • Review and comment on Engineering contractors’ documents, provide commissioning perspective to Design.
  • Attending HVAC Equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT’s)
  • Support in specifying and raising Purchase Orders for required HVAC hand Tools, Test Equipment and Commissioning Spares.
  • Specifying and raising Purchase Orders for First Fills
  • Identify temporary system requirements for commissioning of HVAC equipment
  • Review and acceptance of contractor supplied procedures and activities for installation, preservation and commissioning of HVAC equipment at all site locations.
  • Responsible for the development and execution of relevant Commissioning Test Procedures (CTP) for the HVAC equipment systems.
  • Responsible for the development and compilation of relevant ITR’s.
  • Ensure all, Supervisors and Technicians deployed are fully aware and understand the projects safe working practices, process safety fundamentals and ensure they are adhered to maintain a SAFE working environment.
  • Ensuring that all commissioning procedures and paperwork within the SHMP is completed to enable a smooth hand over of systems to Operations.
  • Provide advice, coaching and training to Azerbaijani National personnel.
