THE OPPORTUNITY – HUB ENGINEERING MANAGER
The Hub Engineering Manager provides leadership to the engineering disciplines to support the delivery of safe and efficient operations, project development and decommissioning. Provides direction and leadership on engineering strategy and delivery in support of the assets. Ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in compliance with company procedures, industry standards and appropriate regulations.
The position drives the engineering plan for the asset, balancing production efficiency, risk management, lifecycle value, and regulatory compliance, while acting as the key interface between site leadership and Engineering Authorities.
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Duration: 2-year contract
Contract Type: PAYE
Day Rate: TBC - For your application to be progressed, please ensure you provide a PAYE day rate banding expectation. Please note that there is no travel and accommodation allowance provided.

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.

In role, you will be required to:
- Provide overall engineering leadership and direction for the Morecambe Hub assets, ensuring engineering activities support production delivery; asset integrity and reliability; and safety and environmental performance
- Develop and maintain the asset engineering plan, aligned with business and asset strategies.
- Work closely with Maintenance teams to ensure maintenance strategies align with asset risk profile; operating context; and lifecycle stage.
- Support optimisation of asset availability and reliability while managing integrity risk.
- Ensure operability and maintainability are considered in all engineering decisions.
- Provide engineering leadership to asset‑based projects and modifications.
- Support management of change (MOC) processes for engineering‑related changes.
- Identify and manage engineering and integrity risks affecting safety, production, or compliance.
- Input to budget planning and cost control for engineering‑related activities.
- Ensure asset engineering compliance with applicable legislation and regulations; safety Case, COMAH and SEMS requirements, Company standards and industry best practice.
- Support regulatory engagement, audits, and inspections ensuring any engineering actions arising are addressed effectively.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of design integrity and other engineering standards. Overall owner of the scope and quality o technical risk management standards.
- Responsible for the prioritisation and deployment of engineering resources across the operating asset portfolio.
- Responsible for review and adoption as appropriate of new and emergent technologies.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
- Strong understanding of asset integrity and lifecycle management; safety‑critical equipment and barrier management.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams in an operations environment.
- Experience in oil & gas / energy sector operations.
- Any other associated duties as reasonably required.
- Degree qualified in an engineering or technology discipline.
- Chartered Engineer.
- Offshore BOSIET and Medical.
