Position: HSE Permit to Work Coordinator

Job Overview

The Permit to Work (PTW) Coordinator is a vital safety management professional responsible for the oversight and coordination of the permit-to-work system within an oil and gas operational environment. The primary role is to coordinate the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the control of work system and associated procedures across upstream operations, ensuring that high-risk activities are executed safely, in compliance with regulatory requirements, and in alignment with company safety standards.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field.

Technical

Minimum of 5 years of experience in control of work, permit to work systems, or safety management, preferably in oil & gas, upstream, or industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of permit systems, risk assessment techniques, and safety regulations.

Non-technical

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Control of Work system
  • Develop a comprehensive Control of Work (CoW) implementation plan and lead its effective execution to ensure systematic integration
  • Conduct regular site visits and current state assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of the Control of Work (CoW) process
  • Establish the process of issuance, review, and closure of permits to work, ensuring all permits are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and company standards before authorization.
  • Act as the central point of contact for coordinating high-risk work activities among operations, maintenance, safety teams, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and understanding of permit conditions.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to site personnel, contractors, and permit issuers to promote understanding of CoW procedures, hazard controls, and safety culture.
  • Regularly review and analyze control of work processes and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement, enhancing overall safety and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the issuance, monitoring, and closure of permits-to-work, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site supervisors, operational teams, and contractors on permit procedures and safety requirements.
  • Promote a safety culture by encouraging hazard reporting and continuous safety improvement
