HSE Manager – UK Renewables (Contract)
Location: Canary Wharf, London (with project travel)
Duration: 24 months – to April 2028

The OpportunityJoin a global energy leader at the forefront of the energy transition. Our Client is rapidly expanding its renewable generation capacity with a target of 100 GW by 2030. In the UK, the portfolio is accelerating with a pipeline of 14 solar projects, three of which are slated for construction in early 2026.We are seeking a high-calibre HSE Manager to provide functional leadership and operational assurance across our UK onshore renewables activities. This is a pivotal role managing multiple concurrent projects across development, construction, and operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of HSE, you will be the primary authority for safety standards across our UK Solar and Onshore portfolio. You will not just monitor compliance; you will lead, coach, and embed a culture of safety excellence.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coaching: Lead and coordinate site HSE Supervisors, ensuring consistent application of HSE standards across all UK sites.
- CDM Subject Matter Expert: Act as the CDM lead for UK Solar projects, providing authoritative advice and challenging duty holders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Operational Assurance: Oversee risk assessments, tender evaluations, HIRAs, and the review of subcontractor Construction Phase Plans (CPPs).
- Incident Management: Lead incident investigations using formal RCA processes, ensuring preventive actions are disseminated via the TotalEnergies REX process.
- Performance Monitoring: Own the HSE reporting suite, identifying systemic risks and advising senior management on performance improvement strategies.
- Audit & Compliance: Plan and lead internal/external audits to ensure alignment with ONE MAESTRO standards and UK statutory legislation.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Technical Expertise: Deep working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, specifically CDM 2015 regulations.
- Education: Preferably degree-qualified in Health & Safety; IOSH membership (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Proven Track Record: Experience managing HSE across a portfolio of multiple concurrent projects, ideally within the Renewables or Power sectors.
- Strategic Influence: Demonstrated ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and lead without direct authority.
- Communication: Excellent command of English. Proficiency in French is a distinct advantage but not essential.
