Our Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of HSE Manager - Operations based in Aberdeen. This will be a 12-month PAYE contract role. It is a full time position based in their Aberdeen office and there will be travel required to all assets, onshore and offshore.
 
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Enable delivery of HSE requirements to ensure (1) Understanding of asset/installation/site HSE risks (2) Effective management of the barriers  and (3) effective assurance of barrier performance
  • Promote a proactive HSE culture through regular site visits, engagement with the workforce, supervision and leadership
  • Responsibility for the planning and management of asset HSE resources and budget to ensure that suitable and sufficient resources are available to meet the requirements of the HSE Management System, regulatory requirements and improvement plans
  • Propose HSE objectives, plans and targets that provide line of sight to Company’s metrics and goals
  • Analyses leading and lagging performance indicators to identify and prioritise performance improvement opportunities
  • Support the planning, development and Implementation of HSE improvement plans
  • Promote, monitor and test for compliance with company standards and legislation.
  • Engage in proactive and regular engagement with relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Assess asset regulatory compliance performance and opportunities for improvement, providing feedback to the wider asset leadership team
  • Provide leadership to ensure audits, inspections and site visits are prepared and executed in line with the plan and the Company’s Standards. Ensure learnings are shared with relevant stakeholder and lessons applied. Establish effective arrangements for the planning and preparation of regulatory inspections
  • Ensure timely and thorough incident investigations and neccessary follow up is conducted in line with the Company’s Standards, with particular focus given to serious and high potential events.
  • Promotes a positive Incident Free Workplace culture by driving HSES (including key focus on Major Accidents and Hazards (MAH))and process safety performance and regulatory compliance through adherence to company standards & procedures, including the Company’s CMAPP and HSES Policy.
  • Perform nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.
  • Establishes and maintains a working culture in line with the Company’s core values.
  • Is familiar with the Company’s Leadership Expectations – clearly demonstrates their own capability in line with these.
  • Lives by the Company’s safety principles and is passionate about having an incident-free workplace.
  • Builds and leads a high-performing team accountable for team performance and delivery as well as their wellbeing and development.

Manage shorter-term issues as they arise.
  • Is familiar with, communicates, supports, applies and adheres to the Company’s people policies and procedures.
  • Emphasises the importance of environmental, social and governance criteria. Proactively works towards making the organisation socially responsible in all aspects of its business.
  • Leads the performance management process across their team; is clear on the strategic objectives of the organisation and communicates/clarifies the role their team plays in their delivery; ensures every employee has clear goals and objectives and are provided with continuous feedback in a timely, honest and constructive manner.

  • Demonstrable skills and knowledge in systematic management of HSE with particular focus on Major Accidents and Hazards
  • Detailed working knowledge and understanding of UK HSE legislative and regulatory requirements particularly in relation to Major Accidents and Hazards
  • Track record of cross – functional collaboration and working across multiple sites
 
Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a suitable technical subject or HSE related Diploma (NEBOSH)
  • Professional membership of relevant Institute.
  • Professional experience in managing teams in a high hazard environment or industry
  • Experience of interacting with regulatory authorities
  • Ability to travel offshore
  • ISO lead auditor or equivalent
