About the Project
 Mozambique LNG is a landmark $18 billion project representing a major investment in the region’s energy sector. The onshore facilities include two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 13 mtpa, condensate storage, marine facilities, utilities, and extensive early site infrastructure. With a workforce expected to peak at around 15,000 personnel, this is one of the most significant energy developments in Africa.

Role Overview
The HSE Head ISBL will lead a team of up to 15 professionals and play a key leadership role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across the Inside Battery Limits (ISBL) area of the project. The role is predominantly field-based, requiring a strong HSE presence on site to drive safety culture, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to company and contractor HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and inspire strong safety commitment across all teams and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all project and company HSE requirements.
  • Lead by example in implementing HSE initiatives, campaigns, and the Stop Work Authority program.
  • Support the achievement of zero-incident targets through proactive engagement and leadership.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure effective risk control and adherence to procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Review and approve contractor HSE documentation and performance reports.
  • Participate and deputize for the HSE Manager as required.
Requirements
  • Degree, diploma, or vocational training in Engineering, Construction, or HSE.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HSE within the oil & gas industry, preferably in large-scale EPC projects.
  • Proven ability to lead HSE teams and influence a strong safety culture.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); Portuguese or French is an advantage.
